i just love nice frn scales like the ones you find on spydercos. g10 feels rough in comparison and carbon fiber scales feel too slippery. frn scales go in and out of my pocket easier. also i love the look of good frn scales like the ones on my spyderco native 5 or spyderco dallara, they almost have the look and feel of the toys i used to play with as a kid. anyone else prefer frn scales over other choices? i wish spyderco would sell frn scales for knives that were only made in g10, a frn version of the spyderco chinook is something ive always wished i could have.

I have Byrd Robins in FRN, G10, and Stainless Steel and I have to admit that although I like them all, I do like the FRN the best. It's the bi-directional grippy texture that wins me over.

I may be weird this way, because while I love my real heavy buck 110 as it has a leather sheath, but any modern folder that goes in my pocket has to be a lightweight lockback with an frn frame.
I think my next modern folder may be a spyderco delica.

I carried my Endura 4 today because i like FRN the best. My favorite knife is the Paramilitary 2, i just wish they would make the Para with different colors of FRN.

I like frn a lot. I like g10 better (usually), but I will take frn over carbon fibre every time.

G10 is my favorite. After that probably micarta. FRN is in the third tier for me. Nothing wrong with it. My Delicas and Enduras have been great knives.

I love FRN, Zytel, etc. in all its forms so long as the form factor of the handle is good. It may not be a prestigious material, but it's light, tough as hell, available in any color you could ask for, and it's economical. Gotta' love that!

I don't mind FRN in general but it really depends on the knife, its intended use, and its price point. I love spyderco FRN on Salts and many of their other knives because they fit the use and the price. Some SOGs have great frn handles like the Pup and Seal team, but don't pay too much for them. When CRKT has done FRN on their cheapest knives it has been not well finished and on their more expensive knives it is not at the right price point along with the rest of the materials. SOG Arc-lock folders would fit their price point better if they had a higher quality material than FRN. It really depends.

FRN works, but it feels like cheesey plastic and makes an otherwise quality knife feel like a truck stop knife.

Spyderco does it right, and I agree with craytab - on some of the Spyderco knives they pull it off.

No. To me, FRN, especially Spyderco's , looks and feels cheap. Benchmade's version feels more solid.

I like frn on the smaller knives like dragonfly. But i own a manix 2 lw with s110v which i like a lot its a great knife but i think the g10 version is maybe better (never handled one)

Doesn't do much from an aesthetic perspective, but it's a great performer that's more than strong enough and it keeps weight and cost down. For just about any performance oriented folder I'd like to see an FRN option.

My Spyderco Manix & Native lightweights have frn scales. Frn isn't my favorite material for knife handles, but for those two, it's perfect. Tough, lightweight & plenty grippy.

Not my favorite but don't mind it on some knives. Like it on my native cause it's thick and stout but on the manix it's so thin it flexes like crazy and I can almost touch the sides by pressing on it when the knife is open. HATE it on the manix.
