Who likes Queen knives?

I would like to know what forum members think about Queen Cutlery Company's knives. What are their strengths and weaknesses? Which brands(Queen, Robeson, or Schatt & Morgan) are the most interesting? Which patterns and handle and blade material and treatments are the most desirable? What new patterns, materials, and treatments should Queen offer, in the future? How do Queen's knives compare to Case's, Buck's, Camillus/Remington's, Boker's, etc.?

I have an old Queen peanut. It has real bone scales and the steel is not stainless but takes a real good edge. I don't know if they still make their knives that way, I don't think they use real bone any more at least. The one I have is well worn but still useful. I would say it ranks with the Case knives I own.

Queen Cutlery is the parent company of Ontario, I believe. Do a search and find out what people think of Ontario and you have your answer.

Just a couple of "points of information":
First, Queen still uses bone in their Queen
Winterbottom bone, Robeson, and Schatt & Morgan lines. Second, while Queen shares a parent company with Ontario, it is a separate company with a separate mission and quality control standards. Information on Queen's lines of knives is available at Queen Cutlery Company, 26 Empire St., Franklinville, NY 14737, 716-676-5527 or 800-222-5233.

Disco Stu, no "mistake", really. I know some of the folks at Ontario/Queen and their arrangements with each other and their parent company confuse me, sometimes! On the topic at hand, I am very impressed with the quality that I see in Queen's knives, especially their high end lines like Queen's Winterbottom bone, Robeson, and Schatt & Morgan. These lines include really interesting patterns and top of the line materials and workmanship. IMHO, nobody does it better in a factory-made pocket knife than Queen. My only major criticisms of Queen are that they probably don't offer as many patterns and options, at any one time, that they should for maximum consumer interest and that their new product development and marketing and sales could use a shot in the arm. If Queen could expand their lines in terms of numbers of patterns , materials, and options; sustain or even enhance the quality of its products; and do what is necessary to promote and sell its knives; this "quiet company" could make even the likes of Case look to its laurels.

Sure do like S&H's english jack, in ATS-34. Giving some thought to getting one.

Good choice, slow1! I have one and I like it very much. I wouldn't take too long ordering one, though, because Schatt & Morgan knives are made in very limited quantities. In case you do miss out on the Schatt & Morgan English jack Queen makes an English jack under the Robeson label in Strawberry bone that is also a very nice knife. Good luck and I hope that you enjoy your knife as much as I enjoy mine.
