Who likes Seax?

If I ever get around to fixing the sheath so the seax doesn't spill out of it every time I pick it up ...

8.5" blade, 13.5" overall, a very nicely balanced chopper/slasher/vegetable masher. :) The edge was good, now it's so sharp it will catch on a fingernail, and it didn't take much effort to do it.

I like SEAX! Oh, wait. Oh yes, I do like THE seax. Fun knife with a wicked point. I need to make me my kydex or leather sheath (for vertical drop).

The seax is in my top five favs. I have had a couple of them over the years. My favorite one is a 14.5" wood handled one made by Kumar. It chops, it splits, the tip is acute yet sturdy so it stabs through most anything. I love it!

It works great in the kitchen or on the camp site. The edge is easy to sharpen when it dulls a bit because it is so straight. I agree about the sheath. My seax sheaths are lost somewhere if I even still have them. While not traditional, i would rather such a large and heavy knife ride high and up and down. One of the first sheathes I ever made was for my seax. It's just a simple fold over with rivets holding it together and a little weld at tip to keep the edge from working its way out the bottom. Ugly and needs to be redone with better fit, finish, and stitched...but it's holding up fine for the seax at the moment.

The seax has been and will remain one of my go-to knives when it comes to general outdoors fun. I like to rotate the seax, PK, small AK, and 14" Siru depending on my needs. It's a great knife at a great price:thumbup:

Congrats!:D

Really like my seax. Neem wood simply glows with 3 days of Tru-oil treatment- I'm going for many more coats.
Cool, Tyr, I bet your Satisal wood will look so nice if you choose to oil it, I have a Satisal wood handle on my 17" WW II and wonderful patterns are emerging from the wood.
My seax chops small wood up nice for the grill and works just fine on a whole big fat chicken. It is my favorite knife for preparing a big pork shoulder, as that wicked point makes the perfect deep channel for the whole garlic pieces.
It will fit in wonderfully when we go to feast as vikings. I'm making a better sheath as soon as my veg tan comes in. The snap is way out of the norse period look I want and it doesn't function anyway. The stock sheath is upside down, it needs to be made so that the blade is facing up and not perfectly lateral, a slight dip so gravity keeps the knife in, also the new sheath will come halfway up the handle.
LOL, there I go again Tyr, always with the lateral lower back carry, now I can be a 10 cheeseburger eating viking:D

...and it's wind time, wolf time bend, your back on an oar...
...seax time, sword time and here's to the hammer of Thor...
