I know we talked this over before but who and why do you guys like a certain blade? (Just looking for insite info)

I never met a blade I didn't like.

I'd have to agree, but with one small addition "except one pointing at ME";) :p :D

I'd vote for my 15" Chiruwa AK (quiet Yvsa!;):p ):D

My YCS of course.:D

Not just because it's my design, but because it has everything a person needs a in a knife/chopper combination easy to carry and above all it chops like a much heavier khukuri with lighter weight.:)

Rob you're just a youngen yet and don't know any better.:p  ;)
There may actually be a use for the chiruwa handles. I'm thinking a Tin Chiarra Model with a chiruwa handle may get the curve I would like to see on an old style khukuri reproduced.
But this is Not a commitment to make such a model, right now it's just a dream.:)

Right now....geez...ummmm...

I'd have to say my "Mini Hanshee M43", as I like to call it.
If not, after that my 18" AK.

I dont have much left.:( , but I am working on rebuilding my collection and diversifying at the same time ;) :p ;) :D

Jay, even a month ago, I would have given you several reasons for liking this one or that one for whatever reason. Truth is, it is now "Whichever I have in my hand at the time of the question".

They all have personalities, and vary according to the jobs required in the areas in which they were developed, but when all that is considered, categorized and committed to memory, ALL of them are still Khukuris...that's the magic of the blade.

I need to do more "research". :)

My favorite of the few I have is the BAS. It's small enough to stick in a backpack, light enough to swing quickly and can chop fairly well.

Of course my opinion may change in the coming year. :D What shall I research next? :D

Hard, hard... very hard. Give me some time and I'll try to be more objective.

Number 1, without a doubt is my YCS! Following closely for second place is my 18" Gelbu Special.
The YCS is my do all Khuk. It seems to fit all applications I put it to, without tiring my hand like my 18" AK can. Fast, light, great chopper, and with the smaller blades there for lighter chores, there is nothing else needed when I am In the woods.Well, maybe fire, but you guys know what I mean. Have a Happy Holiday Season, one and all.
Be Safe!!

Depends on the task at hand.

Spitting: Mega Salyan or 22" Ang Khola

Chopping through/felling: 21" GRS

Not sure what I might encounter and light enough to carry: 17.5" WWII

Will

I like most of my Khukuris ... each of different model ... anyhow lately my Tin Chira made by Bura The Royal Kami get the most of my attention! :D

I own a 22" Kobra and an 18" WWII, both made by Bura. I do not know which one I like best because they're meant for different purposes and I would favor them for those tasks.

Uncle Bill the logo khuk is a salyan right? Can you give us the specs on it? It is a very nice khukuri we should have BirGorkha make a version of it and call it the Himalayan Imports Logo khukuri!

The dust bunnies have it right now and don't want to give it up. But it's a 12 incher with spotted deer horn handle made in Salyan about 1940. BirGorkha can't replicate this knife and I'm not sure I want to anyway.

Greetings from North Platte

Welcome to the Cantina Hoggy!!!!!!! With a name like that you should fit right in.:)
And yes, the Gelbu Specials are nice. I remember when I 1st got mine and was thinking, "Man, Pala sure picked a skinny bladed khukuri for the Ghorkas if *He* was supplying them.";) :)

I personally prefer the wider blades, in most cases.:)
