who "loves" kydex

I do. It used to be frowned upon by some who hate scratches on their blades.

Kydex has come a long way since then. Most good kydex won't scratch your blade. It will carry your knife in the position you want, with great retention, no rattle, no worry about mold or mildew, etc. Kydex is pretty much my pick for the perfect sheath material. I have leather sheaths too but they just can't compete. Believe it or not, I have actually stabbed a couple of knives right through the sides of leather sheaths. (Putting it back in the sheath in the dark or under duress). Never happen with kydex.

Kydex is my go-to sheath material. While leather sheaths look nicer and are less bulky, they aren't as versatile (carry direction wise). I also hate knowing that leather retains water and my carbon steel knives will slowly rust away if stored in the sheath, even if they are oiled. There are no such problems with Kydex sheaths, and I've never had a single scratch show up on my blades from sheathing. I've also never had any problems with rattling or dulling of the blade from drawing/sheathing. I will never buy another knife with a leather sheath again. Kydex4lyfe.

I love it.
My friend makes Kydex sheaths that are lined with the smooth velcro. Fantastic!

I love it as well. I'm not crazy about the retention and feel of leather and it does trap moisture.

Kydex is light, slim fitting, snaps the blade in wonderfully and will never have retention issues if done right. Being a better option for corrosion protection is another huge plus.

I like to play with different kydex colors and it can compliment a blade quite well.

I enjoy leather more, leather working is one of my hobbies. However, I've got to admit kydex is very practical.

I always prefer natural materials for sheaths and handles from an aesthetic point of view, but I own a lot of knives with synthetic handles and sheaths because they are just very functional.

I like Kydex. I like the fact that it's tough, waterproof, and easy to make stuff with. On the other hand, I prefer the look and feel of a nice piece of animal hide for a sheath, holster, or whatever.

I wish a knife sheath maker, would come out with something like FIST's hybrid holsters. I have a FIST IWB hybrid holster for just about each of my carry guns. Kydex interior, melded to a leather exterior. Fantastic fit and finish.

I like both, and use them depending on on the knife. I tend to use leather for smaller knives and kydex for larger ones, although I don't have a specific reason for it.

I have 10+ fixed blades, all with kydex rigs. It just works for me. Its slim, and easy to conceal, simple, effective retention system, and an incredible variety of mounting options are available aswell for each individual kydex sheath.

Kydex isnt for showpieces, it will scuff all blades overtime, but that shouldnt matter for a working knife.

Couldn't have said it better myself
