My youngest daughter gave me one for Fathers day. I love it! Its as handy as a hatchet for yard work and easier to throw.

Yep, I keep one in my truck and have used it for many things including gardening, digging holes, and clearing brush.
Still haven't thrown mine yet though.

Great tools, I have three (so far). One in the car, one for around-the-yard stuff and one for camping and the woods-walking gear pile. I'd love to see an optional handle offered in their indestructable polypro some day.

I do. It's a good tool. I used it for digging out french broom roots. Of course, that would lead to some chopping and hacking, which I did with pleasure.

i've been stalling the buy for years.
as much as i like one i just haven't figured out a valid reason to own.
other than the fact that i really like the idea behind its multipurpose usage.
maybe its because i m just too intimidated by the thought of not having a secure place to store it....
the last thing i need is to see it land in the wrong hands :-)

I have one of the original Spetznaz Soviet surplus shovels that this design was based on as well as the C.S. model. The CS is much better quality.--KV

I've owned one for many years, and it's proven its value many times over.

Mine is pretty versatile, for my usage. I've dug fire pits, and then chopped smaller wood for the said fire, I even killed a pesky chicken snake, that was eating our poultry with it. It is what it is, a sharpened shovel, made of 1055. Gets a bit dull if you dig a whole lot with it, but touching up the edge isn't a major chore.

I sprayed painted mine flat black and purchased the sheath for it. I also drilled a hole thru the handle for para cord. I think I do like it.:D

It's a great piece of kit. Worth every penny. I got mine with the cover, sanded the handle and coated with BLO.

I love my Special Forces Shovel. If I need to bug out, it's going to be the first thing I grab.

I'm like kvaughn I used to have one of the shovels . It was probably Chinese. I carried in the field for awhile as it was lighter than issue e-tool . Handy and portable.

Cold Steel has a very good shovel of which I have had two . An excellent shovel , durable, simple and fits in the ski sleeve of my rucksack. Unfortunately its also quite stealable . I have lost two to theft . I am about to purchase a third because they are an important tool in my gear.

Haven't given mine much of a workout but I like the versatility of it. I also like that it's not scary and evil looking and isn't likely to frighten the types of folks who might be off-put by a large knife strapped to my pack when I'm outdoors kicking around.

I have one and wouldn't even think about going camping off the grid without it. I've dug fire pits, toilets and split soft wood with it. How did I ever camp without it?

I sealed the handle on mine, But I too would like to see a poly handle for it. A hollow survival type handle with a screw on cap would make THE ultimate camping tool.
