At the risk of sounding repetetive, I ask this question because I just recieved a full size SOCOM in the mail today and WOAHHH!!
I thought I loved the mini tanto I just got, but this full size one is awesome. It's a clip point plain edge. It looks like a silver coating on the blade instead of Bead Blast, but I can't tell. The box says silver on it. It was born on 10/98 and has the 3 screw clip. I'm going to put the mini tanto signature series one in the closet, just in case it is ever worth something. I'm going to force myself to carry this one every day. Although it's nice enough not to use. I will be carrying this knife on patrol and use it as part of my mountain biking safety kit, so I'm sure that it'll get alot of use. Any one else like the full size out there? Let's hear the pros and cons of this tank of a knife.

My favorite MT is the D/A Socom Tactical. It isn't my every day carry because I am only a knife dealer and not a LEO. But if it were legal for me to carry it I would.

My Tanto SOCOM is my favorite knife--so much so that I bought FOUR altogether just in case they went out of production. The 'pro' is that it cuts everything; the 'con' is that all of my friends try to steal it! For what I carry a knife for (mundane trimming, precise cutting, a general tool, and perhaps, saving my skin) this is the best knife I have ever owned. Most people here know that I love my Edge-Pro. After my Tanto gets a fresh edge, you cannot feel the blade cut.--OKG

I recently bought an 98 SOCOM. It was my first Microtech. It just has a diffrent feel to it than other knives in my collection. I don't know if I love it, but I now have my sights on a SOCOM Elite and an LCC.

Can't beat the SOCOM (manual nor DA)! It's one of my daily carries on and off duty!

It hasn't failed me yet and don't expect it too!

Love my DA. When it comes to carrying one knife to handle everything, I grab the Socom. One of the best handles going, IMHO.

The Socom is one knife that lives up to all the hype, too bad they're being discontinued.

I really like my da/socoms. But this one does stay under the glass.

A SOCOM m/a was my first MT, it'll handle anything you throw at it. Excellent every day use knife. A few years and many more MT's later, it is still my favorite hard-use folder of the bunch.

Me. Spent an hour playing with it when I got it. Other than the LCC, I think it is one of the best allround packages in knife design. I have a tanto and am considering getting a clip point which I think has better utility.

I love my Socoms. I own three, two large and one mini, all manual and clip pointed. I dislike the C-style clip on one of my Socom, it was prone to stripping out the screws if the clip got caught behind something. But that problem seems to be solved with the new Elite, it was never a problem with the older 2 screw Socoms though. The handle could also benefit from having some sort of busk to it. But that's personal. All in all, very nice, reliable (no way your hands will slip onto the blade), and sharp!

My Socom Tactical DA was the first Microtech that I bought - a great large folding knife.
