Who loves their Onion Centofante?

I know this is an older model.. but I'm very excited about one that I have incoming (autographed version).

I've only had 1 Kershaw before, a Chive that I lost (and I miss it).

What can you tell me about your experiences with this knife?

I especially like 2" knives. Benchmite's, Cricket's, and Imp's are mainstays in my pocket.

This one should be right along those lines I guess.

Thanks.

My dad loves his. I gave it to him for Father's Day to replace
a Chive I gave him for Father's Day about 6 years ago.
The little time I spent with it, I loved it. It fires open great
and locks up nice and tight. I never use the safety on any
of my AO's but my dad does. He really digs the lock placement
on the Onion/Centofante. He can take it out, release the safety,
and fire it open faster then he could with the Chive.
I think you'll love it since you were really fond of your Chive.
Also, it comes with a little better steel. Depending on the born
on date, it'll have either 440A or 13C26. The Chive has 420HC.

i love mine. i have the autographed version you spoke of and i love the neat little holster it comes in. that way there is no clip to get in the way when you are just admiring the inlayed autographs. until i got my Ener-gs and my SG2 blur that was by far and a way the sharpest out of box blade ive ever bought. it makes a wonderful dress knife and a nice conversation piece for those moments when it comes out of its holster.

Variations:

1610 3-1/8" Closed. Red Aluminum Handles, 440A, Pocketclip. New models have 13C26 bladesteel

1610BST 3-1/8" Black Aluminum handles, Serrated 440A blade, Pocketclip
1610BB 3-1/8" Closed. Black Aluminum Handles, 440A Black DLC coating, Pocketclip
1610BBST 3-1/8" Black Aluminum handles, Serrated 440A Black DLC coated blade, Pocketclip

1615 3-1/8" Closed. DLC coated handles w/pearl inlay, 440A. Usually comes with a leather sheath. New models have 13C26 bladesteel
1615VIB 3-1/8" Closed. Spectrum coated handles w/pearl inlay, Spectrum coated 440A. Usually comes with a leather sheath.
1615BLKVIB 3-1/8" Closed. Spectrum coated handles w/pearl inlay, Black 440A. Usually comes with a leather sheath.

I currently have all of the above models. They're just for collecting at this point because they're too small for me to carry.
Great looking knives.

There might be more variations than the above, but I dunno.
The pearl inlays on the 1615 are a nice touch if you're looking for something a little fancier.

I love my Centofante's. I have a regular 1610 and a 1615blkvib. Great knives for gents carry or other times when you don't want to draw attention.

ya really need to get some photos in here guys, ;)

On most websites they say that the Kershaw Blur is made of 440, but in fact it is made of Sanvik 12c27 (a much better steel).

If you go to the official Kershaw website you will see that the Blur is made of Snavik 12c27. I also found this information in certain reviews.

I have used many different steels and I was wondering why my Blur held an edge so much better than my other 440 knives. That's why.

sorry, i didn't mean to be so abrupt, im just figuring out the blur and centofante connection. nowadays the blurs are made of 13c26 instead of 440A, but im not sure they were ever actually made with 12c27 (dave? thomas?). there are also blurs with s30 and s60v as well as the SG2 edition.

I still don't see the connection. Im confused. But I still like my centofante.

Sorry, I just checked, you are right, it's 13c26. Is there a big difference? If they are made with so many different steels, how can I tell what I have? I bought it about 4 months ago.

the born on date of the blade will give you a month and year. then post that here and wait for the encyclopedias to start posting. i believe anything after aug 07 was 13c26 but i could be wrong.

December, 2007. Model 1670TBLKST (and sorry I sidetracked your thread on the centofante)

Now that that's cleared up:D, I love my little black autographed Centofante Onion. Great little knife:thumbup: Beautiful handle, razor sharp, and I love wharnies, so it's a good fit for me.

I carry it loose in the pocket sometimes in addition to my regular EDC. It's also a great little knife to carry with lightweight slacks or shorts when a larger knife will make you feel like your pants are comin' off:eek:

If any Kershaw lovers don't have one, I would suggest getting one ASAP.

Yep, you've all got me pretty enthused on this one.

I forgot, that the Chive was 420HC, and this one will be 440A.

Would love to see pictures posted, to tie me over until the one I've ordered arrives.

Thanks for all of the posts here on this.

I received my Centofante, and I really think it's outstanding. I have not been "in" to Kershaws before, simply because I was interested in other brands. The quality is very evident, and I love that this knife is built in the USA.

I'm not positive, but I think maybe it's the following model (as referenced by 2brothers above):
1615BLKVIB. Spectrum coated handles w/pearl inlay, Black 440A. ??

I'm not sure, because I don't know what Spectrum coated is. It definately has a coating, on both the blade and the handle. It says 1 of 500 on the blade, March 05' and of course model 1615. As I've looked around @ knife sites and Kershaw's site, this isn't a version of the 1615 model that I currently see available.

Any info you can share on the model that I have?

Here's a fresh picture:
