I just got a Mini SOCOM Tanto. Black CN part serrated, born on 1/2000, signature edition. I love it. Perfect size for everything. You can be politically correct and tactical at the same time. I have a full size on the way, but that's just too big for every day. Are there any other mini SOCOM lovers out there? I don't think MT should've discontinued this knife, but oh well. Let's hear your thoughts.

I'm a big SOCOM lover. I handled the M-SOCOM at a store, and it was pretty cool too, but I prefer the full sized. Ain't too big for me to carry!

I have the mini in the black coated clip combo edge and love the size of the knife but I'm not real fond of the clip in that it rides very high out of the pocket. Fit and finish is perfect and otherwise the design makes for a great everyday carry knife.

I love my mini-Socom I think it is a great small knife for every day carry!

Now I just wish someone at Microtech would put out a mini-LCC! Now that would be nice

I agree with Robow.
Design, materials, fit and finish are great

but my mini never leaves home because of the clip placement

(Spyderco Navigator or Gerber SLG3.25 are ideal daily carry).
Mini LCC seems a great idea

I got all caught up in all the MT hype and picked up A green m-socom. Had it about A week and realized that I really did not like it at all. Too small, clip was to low, handle was uncomfortable. But, I think I will still try the LCC. Afterall I am a sucker for hype...

I prefer the larger one as well. Its not so big that it gets too much unwanted attention.

I didn't want to have to do this, but for the good of the group, I will. Those of you who are not satisfied with your mini socoms are authorized to force me to take them, free of charge. Yes, that's correct, I will not charge you to send them to me! I will attempt to continue on with life, taking solace, knowing that I have freed you all of this tremendous burden, while fully realizing the gravity of my new situation, life with a few mini socoms! Please, let me know if I can be of such service to you.

Try oiling it and keeping it dry.

I hate mine it's the biggest peace of crap I have ever had, my Coast knife is better than this one. You know the one with the little red LED light.
Sorry, I'm just a little touchy. The truth is I just have'nt had enough money to buy one yet. This is just me whining. Me and my wallet are'nt getting along at this time.
Do you think the loan company would mind if I didn't send a car payment this month. Hay maybe they'll be a knife nut to. It could happen, Couldn't it.

P.S. HanK, I'll give you a hand receiving some of those MT, after all I'm sure no one wants to over burden you with such a large responsibility.

I've debated about getting a MT Socom (or it's clone, M.O.D.). I still might.

I love the way they look. However, I'm not sure if I want to invest in such an expensive knife that doesn't really have a lot of "exotic materials" put into it. While good, 6061 aluminum handles, ss liners, and 154CM (a.k.a. ATS-34) steel is not exactly cutting edge (no pun intended) cutlery material.

Yes, I know you are paying for it's fit and finish -- arguably the more important factor -- than the materials used.

For the price, I expect...well, more. Just me.

Okay, you can all start booing, and throwing the tomatoes now!

P.S. I still think they are great knives, so please refrain from throwing tomatoes in a can!

What's the difference between the Mini Socom signature series and the regular ones, aside from the signature iteself on the blade? I've seen a lot of those signature series on sale nowadays.

Thanks

The signature series was microtech's way of making the last ones a collectors item. I don't know if that'll happen though. They can be bought for great prices if you find the right dealer. Collectors items or not, they are great users especially for the prices they are now offered at.

Sig, you're on, buddie! Now, it's true, we'll be setting up a new twelve step program for those of you so inflicted with this disease, and it is a disease! Full Tang Clan, we can't make you take that first step toward a new life, free from the burden of owning that mini socom, you must make it! Let go and use the force...(ooops, wrong movie!). You can start a whole new beginning! Sigsauer and I will make the ultimate sacrifice for you and the many others that will know freedom from their bondage when you lead them down that path, taking your first step!

Full Tang Clan, if you shop around, you can find it for about $160. Well worth the money. I love my SOCOM more than any other knife in my small collection.

When I bought mine it had a specific purpose. To ride in my police shirt left pocket as another back-up blade. It was perfect for that use. I almost lost it at the range. I was carrying it in my front pants pocket and it got knocked out because it sits up way too high. Luckly, I spotted it in the dirt before finishing the course. I tried carrying it in my pocket but don't really like it that much. I have other small knives I like much better and a lot less expensive.

HankS, I have not received any MT's yet

. All I can figure is it's got to be the darn postal system. I hope your not having this problem. Please everyone, don't forget to get first class mail.

HankS,

I hope I can be converted to MT cause! Deprive me of sleep, food, and tell me that Tony Marfione is our leader!

Comrade Chang,

If it were only that easy my friend! Check out where I live. Now take that $160 and multiply it by 1.51. That's the exchange rate and how much that SOCOM elite would cost me. Brutal, yes?

Hopefully, I have a lead in that I know someone who is trying to buy Microtechs in bulk so if he can get a good deal...

My other alternative is to cancel my pre-order on a SIFU in D-2 at 1STOP and have them send me a LCC, or pay the difference for a SOCOM elite. Unfortuately, I really want that SIFU!

Hanging in there for that SOCOM elite or LCC!
