i have always heard that buck did in 1964 - but i think there was an original remington lockback from back when remington made their own knives - and i think they stopped in 1940 - the model numbers are r1303 and r1306- and keep in mind i am not talking about the later camillus made remingtons , although they did use the same model number for the 1306- this question has been bothering me since i saw an old original remington lockback on an auction site that was very used an beat up that sold for over $400 - and the camillus ones sell for $30-$40 new in box /new old stock- anyone have any input or info on this?- anyone know of any other lockbacks that predate the buck? - thanks - marc

They were making lockbacks in Sheffield in the 1800's, and I believe they date back much farther than that.
