Who made the RANGER brand?

Ebay #120469835417; this is for a RANGER brand Stockman pattern. Tang stamp is RANGER, over PROV. U.S.A.

Who made these? I assume 'PROV.' is Providence, RI, where Imperial once lived. But, this knife appears to have solid (delrin?) scales, not the shell-type of the Imperial brand knives. Was it an SFO of some kind? Did Imperial/Schrade have a line called RANGER? (I know they had the FRONTIER brand, and stopped making it in favor of the Old Timer series.)

I don't have access to my LG4 right now, or I'd look it up.

thx - cpr

(ps - Bastid: I see that the seller takes goats as payment. Friend of yours? :D )

Thanks for the info, guys; greyelm, thanks for the link..

300bucks - your pic answers another question: the sheepfoot blade in the ebay pic looks chisel-ground. The one on your knife looks normal.

Interesting

I have a yellow scaled stockman exactly the same, but the shield says PINEKNOT

I checked this out a while back and found out t was made by Colonial.

:)

You're right - that's interesting for sure. I have an 'Old Cutler' two-blade Jack on the same handle pattern, made by Colonial.
