Who made this knife??? Marked with an "R" "K" and lightning bolt? Overall it is 15" in length.

Thank you, it was from Chuck Karwan's estate. Chuck had a lot of knives to say the least. With some being prototypes and first model versions. This one I've not been able to figure out.

I did some digging. It's an old original Ranger Knife made by Justin Gingrich. That's an RD9. Ready Detachment 9. That has the early "bird beak pommel". Apparently the blanks of 5160 were bought from Jerry Busse, and were made into knives by Justin. It also has the early deep sunk handle screws, and hollow saber ground blade. Really nice knife dude.

Yes, just heard back from Justin Gingrich;
That is one I did many years ago. Old RD9 with the birds beak pommel. 5160 steel with micarta handles. Couldn’t tell you if it was one of the BUSSE Blanks or after that. However I can tell you that it is first or second run of the knives by the pictures.
