Hi, just wondering if anyone can identify this maker's mark and/or have any info on this ax head. Thanks.

Hmmm, over 200 + views and no info? Must be a one off, thus rare and very valuable! LOL…

There're LOTS of shops that make (made) axes,it's about a total crap-shoot to ask on one American forum, and expect someone to just pull that (possibly very small shop/maker) out of a hat.

Such requests force one into forensics, and as little information as you provided makes it not at all easy.

It's a European pattern, and most probably make as well. It's handled incorrectly, probably not by a user (that shoulder will make it loosen up sooner or later). The handle is not hickory,it's ash or something like European ash,but again-if it was hafted by someone who didn't know which end of this to hold onto it won't help puzzling this out.

This pattern could be French, but could just as easily had been made anywhere East of there,Czech Republic,Slovenia, anywhere really...

The touch mark is probably European, and probably not very old. It's not like those used by the bigger factories but rather from a smaller shop or an individual maker.
I doubt the maker was a very modern "artist-blacksmith",the axe is made competently enough and is meant to be used,it's from a smaller shop supplying some rural region with workaday tools.

Try looking up the pattern first,if definite enough it May give you the region...Then google-translate your way to some forum in Alsace-Lorraine and go from there!:)

I purchased the axe at a blacksmith swap meet in Washington State about 10 years ago and got no information about it when I purchased it, so I had none to provide with the inquiry post. I was just hoping someone might recognize the maker's mark.

we need to see a photo from above to check the form of the eye...
this seems to be german made but not 100% sure...
