I'm not talking about run of the mill production swords, but who makes a really excellent quality two handed sword. Wow, this is the largest blade forum on the internet, (as far as I know) but the sword forum really seems to be dead. Are their any quality swordsmiths on this earth anymore?

There are good swordsmiths around, but it all depends on what kind of sword what you are looking for.

These are the names that pop into my mind

For European swords: Kevin Cashen (I think it's writen this way), Vince Evans, Paul Champagne, Tinker (I don't know if Tinker is custom or production).

Check them out.

Beluga,

Yes Tinker's swords are custom. I know because I have 3 of them. IMHO Tinker understands balance as it relates to distal and profile taper better than anyone out there.

PsychoSword,

All of the above mentioned makers are excellent. If you are looking for tactical swords check Jerry Hossom or Rob Criswell. Wally Hayes does some wonderful traditional katanas.

Good luck,

Pam

If there's no price to high (up to ca. $12.500 for a sword), you'll have to check out these: Schanz-Messer, and look there for "Schwerter". Those are just Katana styled ones, but I believe, that he would also built you a straight one ;)

Hi Guys
I would add to this list -Peter Lyons in Wellington New Zealand,he made the swords for Lord of The Rings, makes excellent European weapons, both sharps and re-enactors combat types
-Craig Sitch in Australia also top class work.
Remember the US dollar goes along way down here

Yeah I think this forum has never really taken off because of swordforum and netsword. Mostly it is just small knife guys over here.

Lutel. Also, Arms&Armor make blades in Minnesota by hand. Kirby D Wise makes (used to?) swords.

Also, Make sure to check out the Bladeforums "Gallery" section for references & pics of custom makers. You might see a cool piece up for sale over there

Also, Himalayan Imports does make swords a varyinng length, with full warranty if you break it.
