Ive seen a few icepick type blades now meant more for self defense for someone who might not know how to use a knife. I dont plan on carrying it, but i think its a pretty neat concept. Knives are just so much more usefull though. Anyhow, i would still like to add one to my collection. I have found a few models on some custom maker websites, but i dont know much about them. Does anyone know much about them, and direct me towards someone who makes them? Ive even seen a few crazy looking models, one called the "bloodletter". Not knocking the design but it looked like a large hollowed out iv needle to more practical ones like brantons urban protector. I dont remember the website for the bloodletter. Anyhow, Thanks for helping me out.

Cold Steel makes an entire series of fixed blade pokey things, called The Spike. You can see them on their website.

Ive seen them, They are not exactly what im looking for...Thats more like a knife to me per say? I guess im leaning more towards a tacticool icepick (my mall ninja is showing...). After seeing these on quite a few knife selling websites, and a few custom maker sites im quite interested to see why they are popular. Once again, not to get attacked by people saying knife fighting is bad and such. I dont plan on carrying this, but im still interested in it :)

Sorry, I just read "icepick type blades" which would imply it was edged. Are you referring to something like a railroad spike with a handle? Something more cylindrical in shape with a sharpened point, but without an edge?

Yes, honestly im not even sure what to call them. They mostly look like an upgraded icepick.

A coworker gave me these several years ago. They're the closest I've got to an icepick design. They're junk and I wouldn't actually carry them, but they're interesting. Pretty much a kubaton with a concealed spike/blade inside. The cross section of the blade is almost a triangle. I imagine they can be found all over online for next to nothing.

Yea something like that brain. Once again not looking to carry one, it will probably never go out with me. I would rather have a knife, but i think they are cool peices. I still want one :)

Pat Crawford makes some ice picks but they are on the expensive side. Never seen them in person though so I can't comment on them specifically. I have however seen his "straws" which are stainless or titanium tubes with knurling on them and a lanyard hole. They have an angled tip and pretty much gigantic hypodermic needles. Very nasty little tools. Here's a link about them: http://crawfordknives.com/straw stainless steeel.htm

Yeah, definitely wouldn't want to get caught by the cops carrying an icepick type weapon. At least with a knife you can say it's a cutting tool with legitamite utility purpose, but an icepick type weapon could be a bit harder to justify. Of course there are legitamite uses for pointy, spike type items (like using an icepick to chip ice, or using an awl), but cops aren't generally stupid, and are naturally suspicious of anyone carrying a "weapon", and an item that looks like it was specifically designed to be used as a stabbing weapon could cause a person trouble.

But like you said, you don't plan on carrying it. Good plan.

I like those Crawford's. Anyhow, I didn't mean just a rough shank I wanted something you would find more in a collectors stash. Not something you would find in a drug dealers jacket.
