Who makes a tactical folder with stag and a pocket clip?

Hey there,

It may just be me but I have not seen many tactical folders with stag scales and a pocket clip. I would love to see some photos if you have any out there.

Who makes these? Someone must. Is there a reason more makers don't?

I would love to see stag scales on an Obenauf small model 1 or a JW Smith or the like.

I want one!!!!

Thanks all,

Mike

I've got no ties to the seller, but there's a Crawford folder with stag in the "Customs for Sale" forum and its an outstanding looking knife. You're right, I wish there was more of them like that.

Stole this picture from www.robertsoncustomcutlery.com

This is a Terzuola folder.

Lifter had a medium Carson with stag handles that was SWEEET! But I have never seen a Carson for sale with those handles, so it might be custom done.

I would imagine you could speak to some of your favorite makers and see if they'd produce one, or, to get one of their knives from a dealer or on the private forums and then send it in for new scales, so long as they'd agree to do the work.

I, too, was thinking about this combination tactical with stag.

If memory serves Lifter also has (had?) a Keith Coleman with stag handles -- might be on his web page with a pic of one of his great leather sheaths

I think it is reasonable to expect that you could ask most well known knife makers to make you a knife to those specs if you are willing to wait for it. Also, the availability of the stag is a question as well.

If I had my choice for a tac, I would choose John W. Smith.

I believe he could probably make just about any of his model with those scales.

The knife is sweet. It is in the fancy folder section.

I think it was $650.00

I guess from the lack of responses there are not many out there that use stag. Once again I ask why? Is the stag less stable? Does the texture limit the ability to put a clip on straight? Is there not a market for them?

HHHMMMMMMM.

Be safe all,

Mike

Nope, it was last night. You will find it in the Presentation Folder section.

I have two custom folders in stag, one by Art Washburn and one by Kit Carson. Both can be seen here; http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=580581&uid=465709

Neither has a pocket clip, both have Gary Graley belt sheaths. It should be no problem finding a maker for you knife, the stag might be a little harder to find. My next stag folder will be a dagger, either from JW Smith or I'll make one myself from a GX6 kit from Knifekits.com

PS, if I had the money I would have been all over that Crawford with the stag.

Thanks, Keith!

It did not say double stud. Is Terzoula's knives generally a single thumb stud?

Wow - $650.00!

Sambar stag has the look of having been burned. Is that the color it's supposed to be?

Niiiccce!

Great looking folders. And a snappy tune, as well.

Buttercup!

Wow, That is a sweeeeet knife:eek:

I just found a Dozier Stag folding hunter that would look great with a clip on it. Im not going to say where tho as I may end up wanting to get that baby:footinmou

Have a great day all,

Mike

The knife in question was sold at the East Coast Custom Knife Show about a month ago. I thought I took it off the site.

It was a one of a kind, sanbar stag on both sides, no clip, and single thumb stud opener.

It was a very nice knife.

Thanks, Les. That was quite a nice knife!

And now it's as unattainable as one of those models depicted in the pages of Playboy ... ;)

Its probably not so popular in tacticals because of the grip the stag gives, its rather slippery, if wet i believe it would be really hard to keep a grip on it.

that pic posted above is gorgeous :), wouldnt want to do any "tactical" work with it though!
