Hi all, after this weird experience with my stag handled, half tang edc fixed blade I have. I think I'm going to either get a custom made full tang 3" blade or a production made fixed blade. So my ultimate question is to ask you all since I know you guys have a wealth of info, who else makes a 3" blade with safety colored orange handles? All I know is Esse's line up of RC-3 blade and my other source is my custom knife maker. Fill me in on the info this knife has to be somewhat tough!

I wouldn't be too worried about the handles. They're rather easy to make. I'd get yourself a couple slabs of orange material, and whatever knife you like. IZULA, BK11/14, BRKT Bravo Necker are all good options. You might also look into the Spyderco Mule Team. I put a handle slab tutorial in the Becker subforum, and there are others. It's quite easy.

As a handmade maker I would encourage you find a competent maker and have one made. Most will work with you if the requests are reasonable or close to what they make.

Shadow Tech knives offers some stout blades in that size with orange G10 handles. 1095 at 57 rc and usually under $100 with a kydex sheath.

thanks guys I'll check out shadow tech knives but in my experience I'm in love with the tool steel!

JK works with orange G10 and O1 steel -- and I'm pretty sure I've seen some orange on the Backwoods & KFU subforum as well.
Otherwise, the ESEE 3 was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title, too.

All of Bark River Knives' models can come with orange G10 handles.

Choose a model you like and order it with orange scales.

Spyderco Moran was released with an orange handle.

Knives of Alaska has three with 3.25" blade. I can tell you from experience that their D2 blades and the Suregrip handles are nice. I like their D2 - sharpens fairly easily and holds a nice fine edge.

Also check out Bush Monkey Knives, he's a member here (BMK), and I'm sure he can hook you up. I've been waiting for one of my stand by knives to break or get lost, so I can get one of his. Horton (also a member) also makes knives that he can put orange handles on, another great guy. Go with a maker and the knife has soul.
