I'm looking for some sculpted earth-tone micarta/G10/whatever scales for my Bk9. Any referrals?

the micarta from Kabar is probably the best around

For sure! Just dye it to your taylored perfection!

What did you use to dye your scales? I tried stain and messed them up pretty bad.

Is used stain on the 9 and it came out great I think a light top coat of satin poly and the grip and color is great. You can just sand the top coat off of yours since micarta doesn't absorb. I've heard leather dye works real well

As far as micarta goes, kabars is the best. If you want g10 or wood check out the handle thread. The makers are usually listed

Hell I looked there and bothered Oregon to make me a set of wood scales since his work is so sweet.

The handles on the 9 in this pic is what I mean by sculpted. Seen lots of different designs, but that's what I'm talking about.

Oic. Devilpig's 9 looked real good along with that guy who modded that junglas a little while back and has been taking orders from I saw. I just used a dremel and a sanding drum, or if you wanna get real picky a few different sized round files will do the job nicely and they wont "walk" like the dremel tends to if your not careful. If your looking for a guy to do it email devilpig he may do it special request if you send the micarta to him

I used a hand file almost entirely for my scales. It cuts pretty easy and you have a lot more control. I like to think of it as F-up mitigation.
