who makes good insoles???

my feet tend to overpronate and put all kinds of pressure on my ankles and knees. the best insoles I've found are the spenco line- they work better for me then the very expensive custom jobs do.

That being said, I still get a good bit of pain in my lower extremities even with them in. if anyone knows of a better insole I'd sure lvoe to try it out!

Sorbothanes--been using them as running insoles and about 15 years ago started putting them in my boots as well.

I bought the Superfeet insoles at Sport's Chalet. I got 2 pairs for both pairs of my work boots. They are the best insoles I have ever tried. When I get new boots, I just toss the original insoles and replace them with Superfeet right from the get-go.

Inserts and insoles are great, until one day you buy well-made shoes or boots, and you discover you don't need them anymore. All the insoles and heel gel inserts do is compensate for lousy shoes.

Only partially true. I just installed a pair of insoles in my most expensive pair of boots last month. It wasn't that they were low quality, but that I had worn them so long and hard that they needed to them to remain useable and comfy.

I will go along with that. I really meant using insoles and inserts in new shoes. Perhaps I should have made that clearer.

I have Superfeet custom insoles in my Meindl Borneo hiking boots. They were individually fitted to my feet in the shop, using a vacuum-moulding process.

Expensive at £75 (IIRC), but they turned the boots into slippers.

They were guaranteed for 18 months (also "IIRC")

My foot doctor recommended the Spenco. I don't know if they are any better than anything else, but they are about 10-15 bucks.

+1 from me on Maximus' suggestion here.

I have tried the superfeet, spenco's, sorbothanes, apex(anti-shox), and the ultra soles are the best...trust me...next are the sorbothanes...sorboair models.

of course everyones feet are different, but the ultra soles are heat molded to your feet in your own oven and really provide a custom orthotic at a cheap price.

i have 6 pairs in my different workboots, running shoes and casual shoes.

check them out.

I think the idea behind superfeet (unlike many other brands) is an emphasis on support over against cushion. people feel squishy insoles and it is tempting to assume that is what we need, but firm support helps body alignment. I am not sure you want to be "gellin'" but you want to be supported. I have superfeet and they are serving me well so far.
