Okay. Here are a few measurements between one of my machined and both of my handshaped NMFSHs. All were measured using a digital micrometer. I measured the amount of material between the the thickest point at the first rivet (nearest pommel,) the middle rivet and the valley between the two. If anyone wants any other spots measured, let me know.
Machined
1st Rivet: 27.60 mm
Middle Rivet: 27.68 mm
Valley: 20.68 mm
Handshaped
Black Canvas:
1st Rivet: 25.85 mm
Middle Rivet: 25.67 mm
Valley: 19.92 mm
Tan Canvas:
1st Rivet: 26.26 mm
Middle Rivet: 26.20 mm
Valley: 19.65 mm
This is really surprising to me, since the Tan Canvas feels thinner in hand, when in reality it is almost half a mm thicker at the rivets. As you can see, it is thinner at the low point, but not by much. I think the tan canvas feels a little better in the hand because of how it is shaped above the middle rivet where the palm rests, therefore giving the illusion of being thinner. I'll post some pictures of the measurements at a later time.
