Thinking of upgrading my cleaver, from the el-cheapo one my parent's gave me from thier 20knives $25 set...

I looked at henckels and wusthoff, but don't want to dish out $100+ USD... maybe $100CAN... so about 75USD...

something in the range of a 5", with 2.5" belly, full tang... steel isn't too important, though I'd prefer stainless.

anyone know where I could get one like this? rather support one of us BFC members than some big chain.

You could get a khukri and have all sorts of fun for the price of one of those $100 cleavers.;) :p

I just had an email converstaion with Ron of Little Hen Knives, he's about a 2hr drive from my house... offered to make one of O-1, and invited me to come and watch the forging. Just have to make a final drawing now...

SamuraiDave> I have my wakazashi(sp?) and a machete... I want something smaller.

Drop Laurence Segal a note. He has several nice cutlerly pieces.

Good luck,

All of my kitchen knives were made by ABS MS P.J. Tomes. I just picked up one from PJ at NYCKS, it's a small knife, the strange thing is it has serrations, but you can sharpen it on a flat stone. The thing cuts like a laser. Besides where can you get a knife from a Master Smith starting at $50?

George> sweet work, but a bit out of my price range for this one... have to talk when I'm doing the next upgrade for the kitchen.

Next will a 3.5" warncliff, with about 0.75" belly, but 1" thick handle ... should be the ideal utility... probably do that for next summer.
