I really like checkering and pique work on handles, and you don't see it super often. Last year at the Reno show, there was 2 nice pieces, one by Bailey Bradshaw, and one by Tim Hancock. Unfortunately, I had exhausted my funds by then.

I'm curious to hear who else makes fine pique work.

Thanks - JD

Barry Davis
Matt Diskin
Richard Rogers
Ken Steigerwalt

Joel Chamblin does some very nice pique work. I have one coming tomorrow and the work was done by Mike Zscherny.

Most of my favorites have been mentioned.

(you folks are good).

Here is one of my most cherished whittlers that illustrates Bailiey's tallent.

Jerome Anders is also doing some great pique work on some of his bowies. Ron Newton is another.

It looks like pique work is found exclusively on pearl - am I correct?

Actually, you can get pique work done on ivory as well. However, if we are dealing with the colored ivories, the carving is not suitable because the minerals causing the coloring do not penetrate deeply. This can also affect some of the pearls.
As far as makers go:
Warren Osborne
Joel Chamblin
Matt Diskin
Bailey Bradshaw
Ron Newton
C. Gray Taylor

Rodrigo Sfreddo is very talented at it. Too bad I don´t have any pics.
