I'm restoring my late Dad's hunting knife. I'm not sure what brand it is, but it's gotta be at least 50-60 years old. I do know that the things takes and holds a nasty sharp edge. I remember using it to dress my first deer as a kid. It's a pretty basic fixed blade, around 5" or so. I'd like to get a new sheath made for it, but really don't know where to turn. There's a Tandy Leather shop near me, so I guess I could try there, but I'm sure there's a maker on this site who would do a much better job.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Tons of custom sheath makers to choose from.

I am assuming you want leather for an old knife.

Check out the craftsmen in the Knifemaker's Market of the Exchange -

Especially the Custom Shop -

I personally have some of 710's sheaths. JD does excellent work -

Of course, since you have a Tandys nearby, it's not that hard to make one yourself -

Thanks guys. I'll have to check them out. I'll get some pictures up of the knife to see if anyone has some tips on the best way to clean up and polish the blade. Like I said, it's not a really expensive knife, not even sure it has a name on it anymore, but the sentimental value is very high. If that knife could only talk, it could tell you hunting tales from MO and Kodiak Island, Alaska.

I like my darkmatter sheath as seen in my sale link below.
For more options - he hangs out at the JK Handmade Knives subforum. Well priced and great collaborator.

Here is his contact info planetjd@comcast.net. I think that is still the proper contact.
