i don't want that thin crap! I want one that is made of the heavy duty kydex. who do you recommend?

That question is open to interpretation.

What knife? What will you be using it for? How do you wish to carry it? All of these questions come into play when designing a sheath and the material used for said sheath. Thinner stuff works better for smaller knives, thicker for larger.

So, care to rephrase your question?

i have a few knives that i'd like sheaths for. it is for LE swat role, so they must be tough and retention is important.

How about makin your own??? I started about a month ago and not only is it easy but it's rewarding as heck. Especially if you have multiple knives and know people who do..

Lots of talent out there,
You should look for a bender close by so You don't have to mail Your blade:thumbup:

for thin ones, I find Dozier's kydex really good. Doesn't scratch the blade like some/most others...

The weight of kydex necessay to retain your knife is solely dependant upon the knife the sheath is made for and the intended method of carry. With that said, I have a buddy who makes all of his sheaths of 0.06 grade kydex. He even uses the 0.06 for his large Busse blades. I have seen a couple of his sheaths he has made for his Busse's that are 7-8" blades with no problem with retention or strength.

If you want an accurate opinion, please post pics of the blades you want sheaths made for. If you can confirm your LE affiliation, I'll make a sheath for you at cost of material and shipping dependant upon the size of the blade. I don't really like working with very large blades.

i've found the pressure used, in forming, plays a bigger role (in retention) than the thickness of the kydex.

i've made HOLSTERS for full size autos, out of .06, and had to lossen them up a tad.

i'll go as thick as a customer wants, but most of my customers (friends) listen to my advice which is based off the size of their knife.

btw - asking "who makes the best sheaths" is like asking "how big is a fish"
