I do some fairly long drives and I like taking a mug of coffee or tea with me in the car.
I have had a few of these so called "leak proof" mugs but they leave a lot to be desired. If you have any suggestions based on real life use please post them below.

I want something that meets the following criteria:

Leak Proof with a practical control feed top. Preferably spring assisted so it closes automatically.

Preferably some kind of steel alloy. (not a deal breaker)

Preferably at least 500ml.

Some level of insulation.

Please post you suggestions below (with pics if you have) Thank you in advance. :)

I have an older version of this and it's been solid for years. If it has a downside it's kinda skinny when in in modern vehicle cup holders.

I’m a huge fan of Klean Kanteen vacuum insulated cups. Not only does it keep beverages hot or cold for a very long time, the lid seals pretty well. The most important feature that I appreciate most is the fact that the lid mechanism is very simple, disassembles easily and is easy to clean.

BruMate has leak proof mugs that are great. I have a 16oz and I also have a larger 25oz travel mug. I can highly recommend them. They do not have a spring assisted closure though. I have seen they have a MagFlip lid now but I haven't tried one yet.

Great suggestions guys thank you. Please keep them coming........... :)

I really like my Contigo that I bought off Amazon. I've used mine for at least 6 years. These keep beverages either hot or cold for an extended period and have fit in the cup holders of all my vehicles.

Yeti and Contigo are my favorites. They both keep drinks hot or cold all day +. Neither leaks or spills.

Rtic are junk. Steer clear. I’ve had 3 in different sizes and they all eventually got vacuum leaks. They wouldn’t keep stuff cold or hot for longer than 30 minutes after that.

The Themos JNL 500 is vacuum insulated, has a lip for sipping hot liquids, has a wide mouth for cleaning or adding ice, has a flip top lid with lock, and fits in car cup holders. Draw back : takes a long time for hot coffee to get cool enough to drink.IMG_9274.png

Yetti. The hot shot cap is great for hot liquids. 1/4 turn on the inner cap and you can drink like is a cup. IMG_9502.jpeg

I fill it with black coffee in the morning lock it down put it in my back pack and it is still hot all day.

I’ve tried every kind of travel cup there is. This set up is best by far.

For cold icy beverages I prefer the chug top.

Guys I just wanted to thank you all for your feedback about this. I chose these two neither of which is available locally so it had to wait until I bought in a box of stuff from Amazon.

I chose the Thermos because of T tiguy7 recommendation and Amazon had them on sale. I also chose the Zojirushi because it had excellent reviews and I really liked the lock feature. I'll let you know how I go with them.

Thanks again for the help. :)

Love the coolers. Hate every drink container they make.

32 oz. nalgene bottle. Never leaks, wide mouth. They make insulated covers for them. Falls on the floor no problem. Dropped on the concrete no problem. Put a carabiner on the lid strap and it goes anywhere. I took 2 of those filled with coffee to work for years but if you demand your drinks stay hot this probably isn't the solution for you.
