Who makes the best Sharpner??????

Edgepro. No contest. Expensive, but well worth it, imo.

All knives are created equal, then i get my dirty big hands on them and the real fun begins.

First of all welcome to the Forums. In my opinion the best reasonably priced sharpener is probably the Spyderco Sharpmaker 204, I have one and love it. I haven't used the Edgepro but have heard good things, although as James stated it is pricey.

EdgePro is the best (IMO) but there's not much wrong with a Spyderco 204. Search the Review Forum for some more info on the EdgePro, use the word Apex (one of the EdgePro models) and you'll get a couple of my reviews. Since I started using the EdgePro I now have knives that will cut a pop can in half, slice a falling sheet of paper, and push cut cigarette paper. I think it's good.

This is my first attempt at a bbs, so please bear with me. I have used a RazorEdge kit for about ten years now. I used to occassionally shave with a knife, until my wife caught me doing it.The guides take all the guesswork out of the angle, and make the job easier for an old coffee drinker. The stones, or hones, are great. The coarse saves a lot of time, and the fine stone really is. No messy oil or water, predictable results, and you really can shave with the result. Only flaw is, the guides don't work so well with Randall-type or diamond cross-sectioned blades. I'm sure there are other kits out there that work, but I am sold on the Razor Edge. And no, I don't work for them

IMHO best is DMT sharpeners, they make sharpeners for many purposes.

The best sharpener is the one you'll actually use! I used to have a Gatco and lent it to a friend. Now I'm no longer mad that he still has it, because I like other systems better. I have a Razor's Edge kit and have gotten great results, but i have had to work at it and I still am going to buy their video in a couple of months. I have been teaching myself to sharpen freehand as well, and I still use my Sharpmaker for certain things. I guess my point is that I think a Hummer is the best vehicle, but my girlfriend would probably never drive one. Read, read, read, read, and try your friends' systems and decide from there.

I also use the guides, and they work pretty well.
