I'm looking for a stainless blade about 4".It will be primarily used for hunting and field dressing deer sized game.I would like for it to be strong enough though to stand some light battoning.

I was wondering if one company or maker was more famous for stainless like Dozier is for D2.

My budget is under $200 and I don't need exotic handle material.I had considered the F1 but not sure if it is too thick to be a good game knife.

Fallkniven makes top notch stainless blades in Laminated VG10 and Laminated SGPS steel. Not the only good choice out there, but certainly worth considering.

Note: I missed that you have considered the F1. This would be a fine choice that will handle light/medium batoning and general camp duty as well as a game knife. The spine is thick, but the blade is convexed to a fine edge.

The best stainless hunting knife? That's probably not an answerable question, but if you buy a Helle you'll be more than satisfied.

Fallkniven has some great VG-10 laminate blades. For maximum rust resistance you could also try something like an Aqua Salt from Spyderco.
