Since khukuris are standard issue for the Gurkhas in the British Army, I was wondering where do they get their supplies?

Apparently, the ones given to the Gurkha soldiers have serial numbers. What happens if the soldier loses his personal khukuri, does he get another?

Someone said the Gurkha would only lose it when he falls in the battlefield!

Anything special about the army khukuris? Or, is there anything unusual that I should know about?

I don't know who makes them these days. The Maoist activity has caused a lot of changes.

I'm guessing but I think that if a khukuri gets lost, stolen, run over by a tank the owner has to replace it himself. Khukuris used to be available for purchase at Gurkha stores at a very nominal price.

The knife is basically a somewhat cruder version of our BAS.
