Sorta like this pic. Either Scagel-y or Tanto-ey.

Anyone?

They both have that goofy looking (to me) straight grind at the tip. I'd like the edge .....curved.... the whole length.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but the Spydie Lil' Temperance trailing point model comes to mind.

If you can find one a Buck Kalinga looks about that same as your drawing. As I recall these were not the typical mass produced Buck knives but were more like semi customs. My Kalinga had wooden handles. I gave it to one of my brothers. It is his favorite field dressing, deer skinning knife over everything else and he is not in short supply of nice knives.

Last time I was at the A.G.Russell store he had one of the smaller ones that Buck made that may be closer to the pic you have posted. It does not have quite the upswept blade of the Kalinga but it is upswept nevertheless. It is called the BUCK AKONUA M402. The one A.G. had was the red rose wood looking handle like my old Kalinga. Seems like it was around $165 or so.

If you are looking for a folder. Look at the Spyderco Chinook, Spyderco Persian, the Cold Steel Black Sable and Scimitar and the Emerson Persian.

William Henry made a persian style knife a while ago. IIRC, they stopped making them because of poor sales, so you might have a hard time find one, if that's what you want.

Dalton Rung Sat is also an option if you are looking for an automatic folder.

I love mine.

Oooooh.....like-um Emerson Persian.

Sure wish someone would just take the end of a GENUINE tanto (the curved Japanese kind....not the Americanized "chisel tip") and cut off the front 3.5" and make it fold into some kinda handle.

  :)

Reese Weiland made a folding osoraku-zukuri blade for a friend of mine... it's really cool, and it's HUGE. Smooth as silk, and an absolute beast of a knife...

The Spyderco Persian is a really nice one. We can't even keep the thing in the store. Incredible edge geometry. No matter what you put in front of it, it seems to cut.

Spyderco makes the Persian style folders that catch my eye(and money). The Ed Shempp collab. and the Chinook II both satisfy my need for an upswept blade folder. The Schempp has stainless steel bolsters and has kind of an elegant look about it. Both Spydies have a fearsome forward cant to the blade.

The CS Scimitar isn't bad either, but mine had a bit of up and down play right out of the box. It stays locked open and passes spine whacks though so it's mostly an aesthetic thing with me.

There are some really great Persian style blades to be found out there. I highly recommend the Spyderco's if your going the folder route.

emerson persian tactical (P-Tac) looks like what ya want imho. if ya get lucky and find a emerson collectors assc. P-Tac w/the zero bevel grind blade grab it!
