I know we've probably all seen this, but I think it's pretty cool. BTW, this is not me.

30 second video.

That's definitely a different way to deploy a blade. I'm with staysharp, I prefer to use the thumb stud.
If I ever need to open a knife that fast, then a knife is not what I need.

I like my thumb stud.

Front flippers are actually designed to open that way. They're interesting and kind of fun, but not my cup of tea.

I agree with all of you. I'll keep my double lugs, thanks. It is kind of cool that a Sebbie can be opened that way though.

Exactly. A good Kimber 45 will take care of that fastness for you. :)

I open the 25 with the friction folder method all the time, it works well for L/R hand opening. That or the "pinch n' thumb" technique for the left hand. :)

Just tried this with my small 21, nooooooooo way. Makes me wonder if there is some tampering with the detent or maybe some extra notches were grinded into the area he puts his thumb, "the flipper".. ;)

Doesn't work so well with a regular. Classic flips open allright, but I don't really see the point.

So it's kind of like a friction flipper..

Thumbstuds on CRK knives are a but rough. My favorite is a hole, like spyderco (easiest way to thumb open a knife IMO). But a hole would look incomplete on a CRK.

It is a tough design problem. A spyder hole is very functional and comfortable, but the minimum hole size would ruin the sleek size and shape of a small sebenza. So you're left with a small thumbstud or disc, or a similar protuberance off of the blade.

Once I learned to push off the thumbstud with the thumbnail instead of a fleshy part, I have not been sore or annoyed.

A machined trough like we see on the Mnandi would work on a Sebenza. I would probably prefer that to a thumbstud actaully, it looks nice and clean as well as covering that whole "less=more" thing. :)
