Who or what is Copper and Clad? What is their relationship to Buck? I know they get special runs of Buck knives made. They have no address nor a phone number on their website. Now I see they have joined our forum and they are welcome, but I would like to know more about them. I thought of ordering from them but I have hesitated because of the lack of information.

DocT, They are like any company that contracts for Buck SFO knives and then sells them off individually. I bought one of their brass bolstered, 5160 steel bladed, Buck 118 Personal variations off of "THE BIG RIVER" website. The knife came quick and was perfect - I think you are quite safe to order from them. Bottom knife in this picture is the Copper & Clad SFO. OH

Ps. that last picture has some shadows making the C&C 5160 look funky; here is a better picture. OH

I have had no problems. Nice stuff. Very nice. I'm happy someone is willing to have these special knives made. It takes a little investment I'm sure. I'll support his effort.

DocT I had the same question. I trust the forum recommended suppliers. With old age and the internet, I like to order from companies that I dealt with in catalog and call in orders prior and struggle with new suppliers, especially with no 1-800 contact. I have found that ordering the item through the big river helps me establish a new contact as you can see where some item is coming from. Today just ordered the CC Buck 118.

I ordered one of their 119's. Smooth deal and very happy with it also. No idea of who/what they really are but the product was solid with good service. I'll order again from them.

Only copper and clad I am familiar with concerns wood sailing vessels, and an occational wood motor vessel.
Most folk just use bottom paint these days, even if paint don't work as well or last as long.
Of course wood vessels are rare these days, mostly fiberglass now, not sure how you'd attach copper sheets to the fiberglass. Nails would not be good.

I thought the same thing. Looked at their website and it seemed like it was mostly buck knives and kitchen cutlery. But I ordered 2 of the 5160 110's on two different occasions. One order was placed late on a Friday afternoon and the knife was in my box first thing on a Monday morning. I am only a state away I think, but very fast service.
