Ok aunther newbie question so you can all set me straight?
I really love the look on the blades of the teardrop and other patterns, especially in darker color, I believe this is mossaic or anodizing?
Is there a "factory" maker who offers this type of finish in a folder?
thanx

IAJack!,
WElcome to the Forums. I don't know of any factory made raindrop Damascus, I just haven't seen it. You may want to take a look at this site, they do a wide selection of different Damascus patterns, as well as many different styles of knives. Take a look what do you think? http://www.stamascus-knife-works.com/index.htm

Jack, what you are seeing in a "tear drop" pattern is pattern welded steel, specifically "Mosaic Damascus." The pattern is inherent in the steel and comes from welding different kinds of steel together into a solid blade which is then acid etched to reveal the different components. As you can imagine this is very expensive, very skilled, and very time consuming work. I don't know of any knives made on a "Production" basis with this type of blade. It would be possible to etch a blade to get sort of an imitation damascus but the effect would be superficial and wear off.
