Uh, they were, uh... hill walnut, yeah, that's it! Hill walnut, for my 1911. Looked real purty. They were from... Nepal! Yeah, that's the ticket! Send them to me Dan.

Glad I could identify 'em for you! :D

Nah, I'm pretty sure they were, hrmmm, say some nice curly maple, for a square butt K frame. yeahhhhh.........

owner has been found...and they were chandan....:p :p :p

I would be most interested in knowing on what kind of gun they're going on and how the Chandan holds up to actual use on the gun.
With Chandan's propensity to crack it would be interesting to know.:)

However here lately it seems that the Chandan hasn't been cracking with the propensity that it did when Uncle Bill had to deal with it for a while quite some time ago.
It makes me wonder if it is the same wood or a different genus or whatever.
Is all Chandan the aromatic Sandalwood that is so prized for incense or is it like Cedar with several different properties?

I know I love the look of Chandan and especially the really wild grain samples that sometimes comes through on a knife handle. :D
I for one would just like to know more about it....;) :D
