Who owns a Cold Steel Prolite (new version)?

Designed by Andrew Demko, made of modest materials, and sold for an even more modest price. They have been around long enough to be discontinued, and people would consider them to be just beaters. Who else owns this sleeper of a knife?

It's just 4116 stainless and FRN scales, but the knife just feels right in the hand and the tri-ad lock inspires confidence. The steel is very rust resistant and takes a keen edge with rudimentary sharpening tools and skills (all I have to offer). I have a tanto, which I reprofiled by hand to give it a "belly." I also purchased the thumb hole Sport version, which I gifted to a friend. This is basically the same knife as the Steve Austin "Working Man," but without the markup.

What have you done with yours? Have any good stories to tell about it?

I for one love the knife, the steel doesn’t bother me at all, I know how to sharpen. It’s a great work knife, carries well, feels excellent in hand, perfect size, it’s slicey yet tough, the lock is wonderful if a bit overkill, and the price was right.

Have both a pro lite with black handle and tanto blade (close out special), and a green working man with the drop point, love them both and sorry they were discontinued.

They aren’t very interesting or premium so they don’t get much attention, but I prefer them to delicas, mini grips, buck 110/112 lightweights, and most other inexpensive FRN backlocks.

Truly could get by and not lack for anything if it were my only one hand opening work folder.

Well said. In their class, I think they are tops.

There are the Cold Steel Verdict and Engage, which have the same steel, same construction, same handle material, and is about the same size at similar price (accounting for the inflation).
But yeah, like the other stated, that price range is very competitive. Though, without a doubt, it and any Cold Steel knife for that matter are durable.
