During one month a lot of people make a lot of posts to discuss Buck knives. Here is a summary of what I found.

During the month of October, 175 individuals made 956 posts on bladeforum, not counting the posts in the Sunday Picture Show. The year individuals joined the forum ranged from 1998 through 2016. Of those 175 people, 55 % joined the forum in 2011 or later, and they made 59 % of the posts.

The number of posts per individual ranged from 1 to 68. As a result, talking about the average posts per individual is sort of meaningless; however, 77 % of the people had 5 posts or less and the most common number (38 %) of posts per individual was 1.

For the Sunday Picture Show, 46 people made 190 posts, and, as in the rest of the forum, most of the posts were by people from 2011 or later. There were 6 people who posted in SPS but not in the rest of the forum.

Adding the SPS and the rest of the forum gives a total of 1146 posts made by 181 different people in 37 new posts plus older posts.

You and I signed up with BF the same month and year. You are a man of few words. :)
Over 2300 of my post totals have been here on the Buck Forum...just not as much lately because of some backpacking.
I see new names on here all the time and enjoy seeing what they have to say.
Would love to see the old timers and Buck management on here more often.

I haven't posted here very often, but I hope to change that. I'm a young guy (will be 20 next month), in school and volunteer SAR. So a majority of my time is occupied.

I've been sick as a dog lately though, so I've had some free time, allowing me to be on the forum more.

Compared to a lot of members here, my knowledge of Buck is limited. However, I do enjoying participating in conversations and sharing what little I do know, or posting pictures which I am motivated to take for the SPS.

that's an interesting post ! thanks to took time to analyse all that numbers .

I've only been collecting Buck Knives for a couple years and I'm glad I found this forum where I can share my collection and discuss all things Buck.
Most importantly, to me, is learning from the people who have been doing this much longer than me.
I am very appreciative of their input and wealth of knowledge they gladly pass on. I've learned a great deal already in the brief time I've been on this forum. Keep it coming!

Bert, I'm glad your watching the numbers. I've wondered about data like this. Stay on the look out. DM

Roger,

Maybe the problem is that I don't have enough hobbies. Actually, it didn't take that long. The first of the month I set up a spread sheet and then added names and numbers of posts. I checked about twice a day and that amounted to about five or ten minutes. As for the 68 posts,I decided not to give names, but some things in life aren't guesses.

I don't post as much on any of the knife forums as I use to. Past couple of years been real busy around these parts. Do come over and read often.

Very interesting numbers. Now go back and do it for the rest of the months in the year. For most folks October is the last moth with good weather so they may be outside before the cold sets in, or out hunting. I also don't post as much as I used too, I only account for .95/1.5 percent of the overall total. I always enjoy everyone's posts and questions.

Ok Bertl, get cracking on the previous months total's ;)

jb- Going back is too much work. Maybe in a month or so I'll do it again, one day at a time.

Graphs and pie charts with homemade pie with the next go.

I did have homemade pie tonight with home grown cherries.

Also, I calculated the mean, standard deviation, did a linear regression and fit an exponential curve, but the fact is that it's pretty much meaningless. It's best just to say that most of the posts are made by fairly recent members.

Well, that's all that matters for the moment. Love our Michigan cherries and homegrown can be very satisfying.

I'd have more posts if I had more money, lol.

I had my blade forums ten years anniversary this summer. I always enjoyed to be member of this great community, to be exact, of the Buck part of the BF. I learned a lot, not only in context of Buck knives. My bad school English improved and I hope everybody gets the sense of what I try to write. But I am missing a lot of old members who helped me to have a pleasant start into this Buck knife universe.

Interesting stats, thanks for posting them.

I've been a member for quite awhile, not as active as I was...just doing other things. Hope to attend the 30th and meet with a lot of you.

I remember when you joined and started to post, Haebbie, and your English has improved as well as your collection of Buck knives. Preston

I do not always post, but I am always standing in the crowd with you guys looking on. I have met and enjoyed the company of a bunch of great people, here.

"Data died tonight", Mike Murphy, Republican pollster, 11/8/2016. You reminded me of that quote. Your data is still interesting.

Since the 2017 numbers have been posted, I am locking this thread.
