Going to be some great meals out of that. What is he planning for the rack? keep it whole for decoration or process it for knife handles. That one seems like it is more trophy set to me. Especially for a 12yo.
 
Exactly my thought, for a 12 year old that needs to be kept for posterity either mounted or at least the skull cleaned and mounted.

I still have my first deer antlers, a measly totally lopsided spike but it was my first and it had a huge body.

I had a nice 3 point that I finally gave in on and cut off a few pieces for handles myself and others.
