Mine isn't! So far it's pretty darn good!:D

Chris really knocked it out of the park with the Nyala. I just might have to EDC this baby.

Is it just me or does the pivot look smaller on the new Zaans? My DOB is Jan 2011 and it has the new "Idaho Made" mark on it. I can't be sure but the pivot looks different than I remember my Tanto 2010 was.

Anyhow, it's great way to start the week off!

just traded for a Nyala myself.... it's nice! can't wait to dress out a whitetail!!!

I would have to agree with you, particularly with your haul of CR steel. I picked up a Nyala (which Chris pronounces 'N-yala and not 'Ny-ala as I am in the habit of saying) at Blade last year and it has become an EDC for me. I did, however, very lightly stain and waterproof the sheath because I knew it would'nt be long before the raw leather began to soil. I'll also be picking up another 'zaan later today to replace one I used in a trade last year. So, we're both going to be having a pretty strong Monday. If you react as I did, the Nyala is going to become a favorite QUICKLY!

Nice haul! Can't say I remember a week starting off hat good for me in a long time.

What steel is the Umnumzaan? S30V or the new S35VN, or whatever its called?

Mondays are lame. Especially when your expecting a knife and you go the the mail
box only to realize that theres no mail. Presidents day...... blah

yup mondays are good, all my stuff that I waited for the entire previous week usually shows up!
except if i'm waiting for a izzy and a 5P...obviously.

Congrats on your Zaan. I love mine.

Why did you get rid of your Tanto? I like the look, and if I can ever find just the blade I'd love to have the option to switch it up.

Thanks guys...yep yep. It was a good day.

Not much of a Tanto guy but yes, the Lum style Tanto is the reason I bought it in the first place, and yes it was a wonderful knife. But, I didn't like having to sharpen the Tanto edge. Which is why I went with the std Zaan.

I dunno? Hmmm, just thought it was naturally S30V. I'll have to check the DOB card when I get home.

And yes, the pivot on the 'Zaan did change sizes at some point; I remember them asking me how old mine was when I ordered the takedown kit.
