i'm looking to make a few folders for gifts. They'll be my first folders, wanting to use Micarta.

I've been to texas knife supply and knifekits. Anything else worth checking out?

knifekits.com has a complete range of kits from small gents folders to large fixed blades. They have all the tools, supplies and equipment you will need.
 
+1 for knifekits.com. I think they have some Darryl Ralph designs? Either way, they've got some nice looking kits.
