Looking for a forumite who can sharpen an emerson that also has serrations. I know that sending it to Emerson will work but they charge $19 for shipping plus $5.00 for sharpening plus whatever cost I send on shipping it to them. Total cost is about $32. Ernest return shipping costs just kills it. It only costs about $7. for USPS priority so shipping for $19. is out of this world for return ship.

There must be someone cheaper on this forum that somebody can recommend. I know a few "go to" guys that sharpen baldes but they charge a hell of a lot also. (per inch and shipping charges high)

I have an Emerson CQC-8 that is as sharp as a butter knife (no kidding or exaggeration- it's dull). It really needs a professional sharpening job.

So what do you suggest? Send to to Emerson and eat the high price of shipping and the high total sum or is there someone "off" the beaten track that knows how to make a Emerson chisel grind with serrations like new again?

I’ll do it for free if you pay shipping both ways and if the rules of the forum allow me, if they don’t allow me then I cannot do it

Maybe a moderator can chime in and let us know

There's no problem with you sharpening his knife

In that case please shoot me a message and we can go from their

That would be so nice of you. I would be so happy to have this CQC-8 fixed up. I would be really excited to get it back sharp.

Only thing is I am not used to the public "conversation" system. At least I am not sure how it exactly works. Is there a way we can exchange emails in private so to get addresses and such.

The shipping is $19 because your knife is insured on the way back to you. There have been countless knives “lost” during shipping. So the $7 for shipping the OP mentioned is for the knife uninsured.

I can believe this, so many times has usps got my package to the terminal before my post office and then bam it goes clear over to texas or florida and then has to come back again
