Am getting tooled up here. New homebuilt buffer should be ready next week. Gearing up for a etcher. Its time to design and order stencils and what ever chemicals, pads to buy.

Thanks; Roger

I recently bought an etcher, and I had my stencil made at IMG
Pat made them just how I wanted. She did several sizes for me
until we found one that was right.
Give them a call, they are a pleasure to work wtih;)

If you are looking give yourself some flexibility when it comes to stencils, and you want the satisfaction of doing it yourself, I may want to check out Bob Warner's webpage. He has plans to build your own etcher which etches with both AC and DC. He also has plans to build your own stencil exposure box so you can design the stencils on your PC and make them yourself.

I've made both of these boxes and I've been very happy with making my own stencils. The etcher cost me about $50 to make with all parts coming from RadioShack, and the stencil box cost me about $40 with most of the parts coming from HomeDepot. The material for making the stencils will cost around $50 from IMG, but this will make a lot of stencils that can be used over and over if you take care of them.

Getting the process down was a little frustrating at first, but once I got everything figured out, I've been having very good results. Bob's website is http://www.warnerknives.com/.

I have been lax in thanking you'all (little West Virginia lingo there) for the links and advise. I have checked them out and I guess will contact Lectro-etch when I get the stencil design figured out. I'll probably go plain-no-frills to begin with.

CHRIS: Thanks for the link to the do-it-yourselfer. I had looked at that before and do hope to build my own, however at this time I have just gotten through putting the Coote together and am putting a buffer together and want to get back to making a knife. And also I want again to thank you for the excellent video you sent me on Scale Release Auto's. It is in my future. I am also going to lend the tape to my Dad to watch because he is a real craftsman and will appreciate it. He will never ever make a knife. He is a master wood worker but will appreciate watching your craftsmanship.
