Who should I send my U2 to?

I just got a Fallkniven U2 in the mail today and I really like the knife, but the grinds are too thick for my taste. I don't even want to grind on this 64Rc. piece of art with a bench stone. I think that would take forever and I don't want to risk messing it up. I thought about sending it to Mike Stewart, but I don't really want a convex grind. Thought about Tom Krein, but I don't really want to pay $30-40 +shipping both ways on a knife that only costs $60. I also don't need a whole regrind, just need the edge thinned out. Who would you suggest, anyone on this forum up to the task? Or should I just attemp this feat myself? I am also looking for someone with pretty quick turnaround times, a week or two max. Thanks for any suggestions.

I would do it myself. IME the problem many people seem to have with a job like this is that they start out using a fine stone. If you use a coarse stone it doesn't take that long. It's been some time since I thinned out the edge of my U2, but it certainly didn't take more than an hour or so.

I use a Norton 8" Crysolon Pike stone for projects like this. I try to make it look as good as possible while getting a very low angle and it usually ends up with a couple sharpening scratches on the left side of the blade (I am right handed and it is more awkward for me on that side). This is a nice knife and I don't want to scratch the blade up because I am not sure I am even going to keep it. I want it THIN, much like my thinned out Bark Rivers.

I've got the same problem, only on the right side of the blade. I'm a lefty ... :-) What I do is put some tape on the sides of the blade. It protects the blade and works very well.

If you just need the edge angle thinned down you can send it to me for sharpening only....

Tom's your man!

Not sure about now, but he was in a build off when I sent him three knives, and they were still done before two weeks. That's total time out of my hands including shipping time.

Good stuff!

I just tried it myself, it turned out great and only took 15min. It will now treetop hair. Finaly, I can actually use it to cut something. You would think Fallkniven would have thought of this before. It is a small knife with great steel, I don't think many people are going to baton it through a log or anything. They need to take advantage of the steel they are using by matching the grinds accordingly. Great knife otherwise.
