Who spends more on fixed blades than folders?

What I'm asking is how many of you spend more on a single fixed blade than a single folder. For example I spend more on fixed blades because my average is 500 but only 150 on folders. How about you?

As of now, 1:1, but that will change once I take delivery of a DDR custom I commissioned two years ago. Then it will be .5:1 since the DDR will be roughly twice as much as I spent on a fixed blade. If I ever find a fixed blade that catches my eye above or around that price range, it may change yet again. It's really dependent on what catches my eye.

I usually won't pay more than $120 for a folder (unless it's something really special), but I'm willing to go up to about $200 on a large fixed blade.

Most of my pocket knives run between 200-400 (benchmades, crk, strider, microtech) , some of my larger fixed blades cost between 300-700 (Busse, sr) :)

I would love to spend more on fixed blades over folders but living in California and dealing with the knife laws is a pain in the ass. Forget frayed pockets from the clips, or locks that may or may not be perfect. It would be good to EDC a small fixed blade over a folder any day.

I guess I generally spend more on fixed than folders. I feel compelled to mention that most of my fixed blades are fairly large and so it is hard to compare prices.

I also tend to spend more on fixed blades than folders. But I grabbed a couple of Sebenzas recently and that evened things out quite a bit. :)

More on fixed then folders. My most expensive folder is less than $100. I have quite a few fixed blades over $100.

Most all of my fixed blades are customs, and most of my folders are production, so I also spend more on a fixed blade.

I've got about half a dozen folders , all under or around $100 . I EDC an ESEE Izula that cost me $55 new and to get a folder that would be anywhere near as strong and tough I'd have to spend at least 3 or 4 times that amount . Plus the ESEE is warranteed for life if I ever do manage to break it . I have 2 Izula's and 4 bigger fixed blade knives that are all from $100 to $300 . So yeah , I spend alot more on my fixed blades .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

I usually buy buck, kershaw and cold steel folders.... I buy Busse, Scrapyard, Fallkniven fixed. Humm my ratio is $&@#¥£!!

Approx 5-1 fixed to folders. About $200 max. for fixed , and folders mostly in the $30-80 range.

I'm sure if I got into Busse-kin knives, I would. :D Right now, I have spent a max of $400 on a folder and about $100 max for a fixed blade.

I've only paid for 2 folders, that I can think of. I own way more fixed blades than I need. Fixed blades are less expensive, in that you are not paying for the mechanism, locks, clips, etc.. Just the knife and a sheath.
When I see expensive folders, I think, why pay so much for a weaker knife, when I can get an awesome fixed blade, often for less? It helps that I live in a knife friendly state. Plus, I only carry 4" or less "hunting" knives.

My interests have been shifting towards spending more on fixed blades than folders, at least with customs. You pay so much for the work that goes into the mechanics of a custom folder, so in most cases I'd rather get a nicer fixed blade.

With production stuff it seems like there is much less of a disparity in cost, so when I want a folder I'm more likely to buy production.

I buy probably twice as many fixed blades as I do folder, you get a much higher quality knife with less things to go bad for the price.

Most expensive (well, my only folder really) folder was about $35. That's more then $10 cheaper than my cheapest fixed blade. I couldn't imagine spending more than that for a folder, no matter how nice it is.
