I'm half-fast looking for a cattleman, preferably with a spear point and punch blade, that isn't super expensive, but not totally crappy. I've seen them around, but now I can't remember where..

Only Cattleman I can think of off the top of my head are MooreMaker and AG Russell. Neither has a Spear point.

If the spear point and the punch are the most important thing to you, check out one of the Harness Jacks from Schatt. Absolutely beautiful.

Good luck.

Well, Schatt and morgan makes one now; the knife gods have heard my cry :p

punch blade and spear point cattleman. S&M series 16.

Ken Daniels contracted Queen to make a beautiful traditional equal end cattle knife with a punch in a couple different handles. I'll see if I can find you a contact, and pics of mine.
I would call the S&Ms "stockman" knives since the handles are square bolstered and serpentine in shape, even though they call them cattleman knives. A cattleman always has equal ends in my little knife world!

Here's some pics of mine. The coping blade is non-traditional; it would usually be a spey, but I like a straight blade for small chores (if I ever can bring myself to use this guy!).

Thanks Dijos, I just got my Queen/Schatt catalog in the mail today and saw the greenbone one you have pictured; GOTTA HAVE ONE!!!
Of course I thought you were talking about that other model they refer to as a "cattle king" or something. In my opinion that one is not a traditional cattle knife. Cattle knives and stockmen are pretty interchangeable for their intended purposes, but I think Queen muddies the water by confusing the old time names. The equal ender has been a cattle knife for at least 100 years!
They got it right with their big Dan Burke Cattle knife! But you need a big pocket for that one.
