Well guys today was a big day for me. First, I upgraded to a gold membership and I bought my first Busse via this forum. I am so happy I am telling strangers.
First the Gold Membership. I have been reading and watching this web page for sometimes hours a day. I am new to having a interest in quality knives and I am having a good time learning as much as I can. I thought it was only fair to pay someone something. This web site is a GREAT resource.
On the Busse, I had a epiphany with the NMSFNO. My knife hunt started with looking for a chopper......I would read a article on some brand be it Becker, ESEE, SRKW etc and I was off to the races. More reviews, best price, hows the sheath?, does it come with a sheath? And who is this NOSS guy?. I was like some ADD kid.
The chopper is not the only knife I am looking for. I am looking for a 3, 5, 7 and a 10" give or take a half inch. I never realized till today that I did not really want to carry some giant 10 blade around. I stumbled on a Busse with a 8" blade.....hmmm.....8" blade. Thats my ADD signal... Goggle 8" blades. All the ones I found were kind of expensive. So back to the Busse (TGLB or NO type?) If I buy the NMSFNO that would fill the bill between the 7 and 10" knives. Heck I might even save money ( thats sounds like some shit I would tell my wife). I could not be happier with my decision.
I am now looking for a 3" blade for a EDC. I need something to goggle.
I was not sure who to pay for this resource but I am sure who to thank. So thanks to all!

Upgrading to gold was a good move. Help support this site that makes so much sharing of information happen.

NMSFNO was a good choice for an all around user.

3 inch? Find a thin GW (the .14's are hard to find).

3.5 inch blade AD is a good choice. I like the BAD, thin, higher hardness steel! I EDC one a goodly bit.

Little bigger?

CABS! Choilless anorexic Boss Street is my go to if I am going to be outdoors. I pair that up with a Muck, and B11, and call my bases covered.

The Sar3 is also in your 3 inch size range.

G'day mate! :D
One more Aussie here! For a 3" knife look at Magnum Bear Cub. Great lil' monster.
You might wan to have a look at the sister companies of Busse, Swamp Rat Kinfe Works and Scrap Yard Knife Company. Blades from those two are cheaper, using different steels than Busse, but still no nonsense knives with the same warranty. Scrap yard currently has in offer 3", 5", 7", 9" knives and a skeletonized small blade. Swamp has a 9", 6" and 4" as current offerings.:thumbup::thumbup:
This place is great, but each company has it's own forum an heaps of good folks there.
Do a bit more research here and on the other forums and get more of those great knives down to restore the balance for the ore that went from the ground here to the steel in the workshop there... something of a homecoming...:D
Welcome and enjoy!

I would love to be able to hold these knives in my hand. I am sure one would feel better than the other. I live very remote and have no chance for a knife shop. Not that your average shop would carry Busse.
The price is right on the Magnum bear cub. I find myself drawn to the GW. I am struggling with blade thickness. I love the idea of a big 1/4 chuck of Busse but I know I don't need it for cutting open boxes and taking tags off my kids clothes.
I did get in on the Ganzaa, I bought the SYKCO 311 and one of the Rodent 4s. My only possible issue is with humidity. This morning the humidity in the house was 75%. Welcome to the jungle. I believe INFI might be better for my climate.
Good advise. Thanks, David

MBC has same length blade as GW. GW is really comfy in the hand, and fills the palm nicely, but going 1/4 thick is nuts on this small knife!
Once you get 311 you can check out the handle, 511 has exactly the same one if, you are interested in 5ish" blade.
Go nuts, cut some acidic fruit/veggies, patina will protect against water.
If you are after rust resistance watch out for the SYCKO knives in ELMAX, the steel has really good rep, but Dan chose to go thin with it, really thin and you seem to like some meat on your blades...

for size comparison, when you get 311 (Rodent Solution, GW, MBC 311):

Elfo_alv, You have a lot of the knives I would like to hold. That 311 looks big next to the MBC.

When I said 1/4" I should of correctly wrote .20 thick on a few of the GW.

I think the MBC will probably be one of my next purchases just due to most are under $200.

Thanks for the pics

You can't go wrong with either one of those! I'd just say that if you want a knife for bush MBC might have a bit too small handle for some tasks. The other 3 fill the hand well and are comfortable. You might find 311 a little too small, my hands are rather small and I find it comfy, the others don't lock your hand in...

Other good option, in INFI is SAR3. A bit more blade and handle than GW. Will try to take some pics this weekend in daylight and post here for you to see. Other options in around 3" are Active Duty and its variants, Mean Street, Leaner Meaner, Boss Street ... :D
I'm quite new to Busse and Kin myself, others will be able to point some more I'm sure.
There is a few Dogs in stainless steels, they don't come up too often, but if you are persistent you might land one or two. Plus there is a chance of regular offering at Yard in Elmax, or you can ask someone to proxy for you at the show in Knob Creek.
Have fun, you'll find plenty of info here and lots of folks will answer your questions to the best of their ability.

Rob might be the closest Hog to your location.

If you planning to swing by Sydney we may arrange some holding... :D

Thanks for all the pointers! It would be great to live by one of you guys. We are now on Groote Eylandt just off the top end for work. We still have a home in the Brisbane area. That is nice of you to offer a show Elof_avl. Rob might get a self invited guest someday. Thanks again, David

Here's Basic 4, the thin one, and a War Dog HACK. Didn't have a chance to take any pics today to compare size with GW, will try tomorrow.
