Who used an electric knife today?

I was just wondering how many people on this forum used an electric knife to carve the turkey or slice their ham today. I did not, as I always use my J.A. Henckels. We don't even own an electric knife.

I was at my in-laws and my father-in-law did the cutting. They just have some big carving knife. I cringe when they pull out the cheapy sharpener that you just run the blade through. One of those hand held things with the "V" in it. I didn't see it come out this year though. I was tempted to pull out my freshly sharpened BM710 and slice some turkey. :)

Today I sharpened all the knives in my set - carving, boning, paring, on the Sharpmaker. I used several in various cutting chores, including the bird, but I am unabashedly an electric knife fan. I sharpen the blades on a Sharpmaker too. I know the steel is not super high quality, but it's probably on par with a 440 or AUS grade. Think of it this way, once I sharpen it up, it's like two serrated Enduras cutting away with the press of a button.

I converted to electric when I saw that the combination of twin serrated blades combined with a little hand pressure was unbeatable for separating joints (removing the leags & wings). Also, since I make a very tender bird, it's the best way to get nice consistent breast slices without shredding the meat in the process.

I have to admit I too am an electric carving knife fan. Carving any kind of roasted meat in thin slices is just far easier with the electric carving knife. You push the button and apply gentle pressure and it slices perfect. My electric carving knife is the best $6 knife I own.
On the down side I am not a fan of kitchen tools that only get used 4 or 5 times a year.

On a side note, The electric carving knife does a bang up job cutting foam rubber.

Guilty. I used an electric knife that's probably twenty or more years old. It belonged to my parents, and this year I cleaned out a lot of stuff from their house. It doesn't have any sentimental value (thank God!), but was just too convenient today.

I did spend some time cleaning and sharpening my Brother in Law's folder, which was as dull as a butter knife. Hey, why not? He deep fried the turkey! :D

As we were getting ready to go to the in-laws, I grabbed my F. Dick carver (my in-laws have junk knives that they sharpen on a brick outside) but my wife told me to bring her old electric knife instead. She had that knife when I met her 20 years ago, and seems to have an attachment to it. In the interest of maintaining peace, I put the F. Dick back in the drawer and took the electric knife.

As a side note, two of my sisters-in-law had me sharpen their horribly mistreated kitchen knives while I was there (I know it is expected whenever I go there, so I bring my sharpening gear). It was a real workout to re-bevel them, even with an extra-coarse diamond stone.

Nope. Camillus rosewood knife from a block of kitchen knives.

I do own an electric knife. I think it's in the shop and I probably used it last to clean some fish. Primary disadvantage to electric is washing it.

i carved the bird at my girlfriend's parents' house yesterday.
would never use an electric knife.
peace.

I confess; I use an electric knife for Thanksgiving. :o

I get the spiral cut ham (Honey Baked) for Christmas and Easter; no cutting. ;)

I carved at a friends house. I had to use their electric knife. It was pathetic trying to get through the joints. A big problem is that I was working in a roasting pan instead of on a cutting board. I have given them knives and periodically sharpen them, but you use what you are handed at a friend's house. I guess that I need to sharpen their electric knife next time I visit.
