I would like to have a sheath that rides lower down on my right thigh to get my knife below my backpacks hip belt. As of now I keep it attached to my pack but I would prefer it to be on me at all times. I was wondering who here uses a similar setup and where you got your sheath made.

I use the same set-up for my fixed blades.

Got some of the drop sheaths at blade-tech, got drop sheath extenders at SOE.

I carry my Busse Steel Heart-E in a drop leg rig for the same reason...On at all times, Out of the way of my pack belt. It also makes drawing a large blde easier.
Good Luck

I was also looking for a way to carry large fixed bladed knives on backpacking trips. I've purchased generic drop sheaths from a number of different suppliers and even tried to fashion something on my own, but nothing worked to my complete satisfaction until I came across Brian Wagner from Okuden on the forums here. He custom fabricated a drop sheath for my Chris Reeve Mountaineer II that is absolutely fantastic. The drop length on the sheath is adjustable and can be fitted with with an elastic thigh strap and/or snap retention ring. Kydex can be ordered plain or in a camo pattern. The rig is gorgeous and works like a charm. I know there are plenty of places that do this kind of thing, but Brian was polite, knowledgable and had my knife and sheath back to me in under a few days. Prices are above average, but not if you value a fine product. Trust me, you won't be sorry if you decide to do business with him. For specifics, search the forum for his name or business. If you're unable to find the information you need contact me at the email address listed below and I'll locate the specifics for you.

Sesoku,
My sheath was made by a local guy who used to work for Blade Tech. I do not belive he is currently doing sheath work.
I would try Robert Humelbaugh at Survival Sheath Systems. I've heard excellent things about his work. He should be able to fix you up.
