Who uses Rough G10 for handles?

Yeah, I know, it can wear out the pants pocket. But I really like it as a handle material. Buck Taclite has it, as does the Kershaw Avalanche and some older Kershaw liner locks. Anybody else?

Cold Steel's G-10, as used on the American Lawman (and also on the Recon 1 series), is really, really rough. Blade-Tech uses very rough G-10 on their green-handled folders.

I have a Cold Steel Hatamoto but I dont cary it. The G-10 texture coupled with the size would make short work of my pants pocket.

Spyderco does.

The Benchmade 710 on the other hand is DEFINITELY not rough. It feels more like smooth plastic. It makes me wonder what's the point of using G10 if it's not gonna be grippy.

I like it rough :D. Grippy G10 and good jimping are important to me. While at work, my EDC rides in a sheath on my belt with a SAK in the pockets.

I like it because it doesn't rage on my jeans. Thanks BM for saving my jeans there. On the other hand the stock griptilian handle eats denim for breakfast.

The G10 scales on the Kershaw RAM are rough. Rough enough that I replaced them with wood. I always thought that a properly sculpted handle doesn't require texture for grip.

I highly agree. I can clearly see this aspect when handling knives such as the spyderco centofante. the 710 also fits really well in my hands. Grip has never slipped while holding it.

I got to tell ya, the G-10 on the ZT 0200 is VERY Textured (rough)... But it does have great grip retention!!! I would assume that as a tactical style folder this type of texturing would come into play when gloves are being used or conditions are very wet...

I'll echo Spyderco's is rough (but not too rough) and ZT's 0500, Buck's Strider knives, and CS's American Lawman are quite rough, too.

The grippiest G10 I have ever held is on the CRKT Triumph folder although it's not my favorite knife. It will draw blood reaching into your pocket . . .
