There you go Jerry, we just talked about this. Now the Mojo fans are inquiring about bottle opener possibilities so let's throw this one out for review.

Gents, I have considered a Busse Bottle Opener also. Either a simple opener-only with the Busse Combat logo etched on the handle. Or maybe an opener on one end with some type of blade so as to slice the lemon or lime. I figure a paracord lanyard would be nice to prevent misplacing the cooltool around the campsite. Wouldn't have to be INFI, to keep the cost down. INFI would be great though. It would be something we could buy the wives for the kitchen right? Yeah, they might go for that. "Look dear I got YOU something this time."

Fire off if you'd be interested. Let's not post possible names here, give the man a chance to grind a few. Any INFIput guys?

Jerry if you have any photos of prior projects along this line, we'd be nuts to see 'em.

In nuclear bottle-busting frenzy.

I have always appreciated the bottle opener on the single edged Bowen Survivor belt buckle I've worn for at least a couple of decades. You know, if a "blade catcher" guard was shaped right, it would be a handy bottle opener --- and us macho guys could still pretend we had a "pure fighting knife," complete with blade catcher.

PS: I've heard the Galil has a bottle opener.

Lane, I read once the Galil has a bottle opener because the Israeli troops were using the rifle's mags to open their beverage of choice. This resulted in damaged mag lips, thus useless mags, thus less firepower, thus upset command staff, and you get the idea.

Maybe we could "enhance" this need a little and make this a military project. Combo bottle opener/M16 sight tool/M60 takedown wrench. We have to pull this off somehow.

Me me me me me!
I've been searching for the perfect small bottle opener to hang on my key chain.
A Busse opener would be just perfect.
Maybe even a tiny canvas micarta handle would be appropriate?
Ya think?

Hey Jerry,
If you make it
we'll buy it!

I do like the idea of it being made out of Infi with a micarta handle.

Yes, I'm all over the idea of a Busse Combat Bottle Opener / keychain tool. Here are my musings:

INFI is muy expensive compared to A2 & others, and totally overkill for this type of application. HOWEVER, this IS a Busse Combat implement we're talking about here, and it would be missing the whole point to make it out of some lesser, more common alloy. There are already tons of keychain bottle openers of various designs available in various alloys; what's the point in wasting Jerry's time if we were going to go with some common alloy instead of INFI? Most any knife maker can crank out a few A2 bottle openers!

A small, single piece, multi-purpose bottle opener / can opener / screwdriver would be cool. If that's not possible, let's just stick with the bottle opener. A blade would be useful but if this thing's going in your pockets or on your keychain, I can't see how a blade could be added without it cutting you.

Micarta is cool, but would drive up the production cost and make the opener too bulky to go on a keychain. Hey, the Assault Shaker is skeletonized and it's SUPER comfortable to grip!

It should definitely have the Busse Combat logo laser etched on it--along with the name "Bottle Mistress" which another forumite came up with a while back--and the simplest, easiest to apply finish possible (bead/sand blasted perhaps).

The idea of a bottle opener is probably the last thing Jerry wants to deal with right now, but it's a very good idea and would be a fantastic promotional effort to have these for sale at the Blade Show!

HDBeav and I discussed this idea about a week or two ago and now all of the beer boys are comin' out of the woodwork. I offered many knives during the '80's that had a bottle opener feature. Very, very handy. In fact, many of my early fighters had this feature in the form of a blade catch/bottle opener on the spine. It was somewhat similar to our newest model . . .Mr. Mojo.

We have recently brought one of these smaller, older models back and will be debuting it on the Busse Combat Forum.
I remember quite a few makers who incorporated this into their designs during the '70's and 80's. It was a great idea then, and it is a great idea now.

Yours in nuclear fast ways to get into that bottle,

Jerry Busse

Another debut on the Busse Forum, Cool. Hey, do you guys offer direct deposit of my paycheck into your bank account?

That would save me a lot of time.

"Bottle Mistress!" OK, I was laughing and choking for a while, but I'll go for it.

First I was thinking Jerry might make a bottle opener/blade catch upper guard an option on a number of the knives. But I realized that some unenlightened folks down in "civilization" might get upset if you whipped out a Battle Mistress or Steelheart to open your beer.

Now I'm thinking a small knife, smaller than the little A.G. Russell Bird & Trout "letter opener" I wear around my neck -- but perhaps 3/32 to 1/8" thick and nuclear tough, because it's a Busse -- and somehow keep a semblance of that heavy duty "style" typical of the NO, SH and BM.

As I visualize this unique gadget, I'm seeing a miniature E-handled knife with a hooked guard. The upper guard lifts bottle caps against the spine, while the hooked lower guard lets one cut the triangular opening used for "old fashioned" beer cans, or even turn it sideways and use as an old fashioned traditional can opener.

The tiny E-handle with its micarta scales would be just right for forefinger and thumb. The INFI would make it the only "nuclear tough" can opener out there. And it would all fit in a slick little Kydex sheath that could be carried in one's watch pocket or turned horizontal on the belt.

Now I'm wondering if I want to put a lanyard in the tang hole, to make sure I don't lose it. Darn, this fantasy is getting too real...
