Who wants Fat for Combat

I was disappointed to see that the CG Ash1 was so fat. I got a DC Ash1 in the Knoboganzaa and was thinking of keeping it pristine, and picking up a combat grade for a user. But the CG offering is too thick for a good user.

I must confess it seems a little strange to me, since a 6.5" bladed knife isn't really ideally suited to be a chopper:confused:. Sure it will do it, but at the expense of being as useful for other tasks. Makes me wonder why one would want it so thick.

I may just have to make my custom shop a user:eek: or just stick with one of my SFNOs.

i think we often think of a new offering in terms of the knives we already have.

on its own, the fatty ash should make a fine chopper. a longer blade would of course do a better job at chopping, but not everyone has many knives to choose from. in order for it to chop decently, it needs to be more blade heavy, so the added thickness will help.

for the person who only can purchase one busse, and wants to be able to chop with it, likes the shape/size of the ash, the cg is a fine choice.

I am now very, very happy that I got an extra ASH1 SE for a user.

Good point. As far as the LE it seems counter-productive to pay an extra $200 to get a user. So, maybe somwhere around next Christmas Skunk will have them paint up some LE blanks and there will be some users in .22".

Fat for combat is the best

I was hoping for a 0.22" CG as well. I had a SW M6 that I thought was too thick for a 6" blade. The ASH CG looks to be thicker than the M6 with only an extra .5" in length.

I know we can get the LE but I'm too tight to spend $500 on a user:) Give me time and I'm sure I'll realize that it's the rational thing to do.

You can always thin it down if you don't like it fat ;)

I'm of the opposite mind. I like the satin and dc se versions for the thinner users that they are. As for the CG, I'm intrigued how it might function as a chopper. I've already ordered on CG in double cut. Depending on what the HOG version looks like, I may add a CG black/black as well.

Guyon,

I agree the satin LE will make a great user at .22". I guess it's mainly the cost I was dissapointed in. I like them thin and I've never had to shell out for a LE to get that before.

There have been so many ASH-1s made in .22 that have been sold in Ganzaaaas from Blade 07 to now that there are plenty of them out there if you want one:thumbup:

Agreed. There will be user SEs out there for sale. I was selling my mint SE-ASH1 when, after it sold and I was preparing to ship it, I realized that - in a moment of less than sobriety - I had confirmed that the Holy Terror did indeed fit the ASH1, I must have scratched the dc finish at the talon hole with the screw head rotation. It mostly wiped off but not completely.

I conferred with the buyer and we agreed to cancel the sale - I refunded the money along with the additional additional Paypal fees he might have been hit with.

That said, I now have a "user" ASH1. I think it is going to become my newest kitchen knife now! :D:thumbup:

All I'm trying to say is that you will certainly see users pop up in SE form as .22", if that is what you want. :D

For future reference, when you issue a refund through PayPal they refund fees, as well. No need to include extra.

Really?! I didn't know that... Thanks, B-Square. I didn't investigate sending a true refund - I just sent them the same amount back + 3%, that they sent me. If I had gone to the original transaction and selected "return funds" or something like that, then it would have been no hit for them or me? Crap! :grumpy: I believe I just wasted a nice little bit of coin!

It was the first time I've ever returned money to anyone before. :o

Yup, full refund reverses the fees. No questions asked.

Correct. You can even issue partial refunds and they calculate the partial fees to return. I recently did that for a knife+sheath sale because USPS broke the sheath, so I refunded just the replacement cost for it, not the whole package.
