Who were Bura's Assistants?

Was looking through endless pictures on the net of beautiful H.I. Khukuri and would always be awestruck by Bura's work. He was hands down one of the best if not the best Kami's who have ever worked for H.I.

Since he no longer makes Khuk's anymore I got to thinking who were his assistants? If I have it correct a kami usually has a couple of assistants that serve as apprentices/proteges until they become sufficiently skilled enough themselves?

It would be cool to know who carry on his his legacy as a Kami and if they work or have worked for H.I. themselves producing their own Khuks.

[from an earlier thread]

Did a little searching, and found that the following kami's were previously Bura's helpers (this list is not complete):

Thamar

I think Keshar Lal was also Bura's apprentice at one point? IIRC Keshar Lal was granted the right to use Bura's crescent moon mark after Bura retired? I have an Uncle Bill Memorial Salyan marked with a crescent moon, but I'm pretty sure that it was made by Keshar Lal, not by Bura?

Sanu was also one of his helpers. He was one of the early ones working with him. His work was very close to Buras almost alike. I have a early YCS from him and its an amazing piece.

Uhhhh!! Yes sir I have to agree there:thumbsup: I got an AK Bowie from some cool dude In NC that is awesome. I love his deep fullers! I can only imagine how nice his YSC would be.

This is Sanu's work, just killer, the fittings are silver and the scabbard is really nice as well, has silver base and has a design carved on the leather.

I really liked Sanu's stuff, it was a bit before my time, but the work I've seen of his, makes me very envious.

Lachhu worked a bunch under his tutelage as was mentioned. I can personally vouch for Lachhu's quality of work.

I really miss the work of the old Sarkis who would tool the leather of the scabbards. I know that functionally it serves no real purpose, but boy do I miss that detail.

Bura insisted to Lachhu that if he would make this special knife we now know as The KLVUK that it would sell like gangbusters and he was right. To this day the KLVUK (Keshar Lal Village Utility Khukri) is probably the most recommended Khukri for those who have just been introduced to the ergonomics and advantages the Khukri offers without the high cost associated with finely finished knives we westerners have grown to expect. Bura was right and Keshar Lal carries that model on to this day. Other Kamis have even made their own renditions of the utility knife with their own twists. No Chakma, no karda, no sheath, no problem. If you dont like it your not out much. Problem is that most do like it and catch HIKV with a vengeance:D

Dang Pugs! Thats is a sweet YCS sir!
